Mary-Lou Manizer – Worth The Hype?

Mary Louminzer 1I think it’s safe to say that every time you see a post from my about ANYTHING from The Balm.. I love the product. I’ve tried bits from most categories now and I am just so, so impressed. This was one of the things I’d heard the most about prior to getting my hands on anything so it was the thing I was most skeptical about. When everyone tells me how great something is I tend not to believe the hype.. if anything it delays my purchase.. this is one such example.

Mary Louminizer 2The colour is perfect, champagne.. not too warm, not too cool, could easily double as an eyeshadow in a pinch or if you’re tight on space in your makeup bag. The formula is good.. it’s fine enough that it’s not giving you that chunky, glittery look BUT it’s not that perfect sheen I forever search for. It’s very good, don’t get me wrong but I CAN see some shimmery particles. That’s not a deal break, I love it and have used it a lot already but it’s worth mentioning for those of you who already have something you’re happy with but are looking for that ultimate sheen.. this isn’t quite it. That being said the price is good and the packaging is cute, compact but feels substantial.

Overall.. very good product for kind of an inflated drugstore price.. I’ve mentioned it in each Balm review so far but I have to say it.. it’s that buffer between high end drugstore and low end beauty hall that I think is just so much more accessible and perfectly priced for the audience they’re trying to reach. I love it and I think you will too.

Available online here for £16.00

PS.. that link is to SUPERDRUG.. that’s right! They’re now stocking The Balm.. excellent!

This does give a lovely subtle luminous effect on your skin and it looks less shimmery than many other highlighters I’ve tried. I really like The Balms in between price point as you get to splurge but still save a few pennies (or pounds) left in your pocket compared to high end products.

I do really like this product, but beware the highlighter cracks breaks sooo easily! I’ve had two now and they’ve both done the same thing 🙁 makes for very messy highlighter application!

I like how this highlighter really makes it look like there’s light shining down on you and doesn’t turn you into a disco ball!

I’ve been eyeing this up for the longest time but wanted someone to wow me with a review so I didn’t think I was getting a double of ones that I’ve already got! I’m the same as you – always looking for the perfect highlight but no such luck yet! x

I have this and couldn’t agree with you more.
I really appreciate your honesty on all of your reviews, your one of the only you tubers/bloggers that I really feel gives an honest opinion on every product, whether you have been sent it or purchased yourself. I’m feeling very blah about a lot of my old faves on youtube, I think its very obvious a lot of the time when they are just saying something because they are being paid to or (not mentioning any names) just completely selling out and going all out for this youtube ‘celebrity’ status thats flying about now. Not doing any of the videos that made their channel so popular in the first place and continuously doing sponsored posts and videos. I love your channel and your blog. I think you’re gorgeous and honest and I will continue to watch you for as long as you keep doing your videos!

thank you! that is always the best thing a blogger/youtuber can hear because if you cant be trusted then why are you doing this?
I do do sponsored stuff but when I do I try to compensate with extra posts/videos lol. I think it’s to be expected now for bloggers putting in a lot of time to accept sponsorship but it needs to be relevant and it needs to be declared. It’s easy to get sucked in to the perfectly polished world but you have to step back and remember that’s not what people subscribed to. So I may not be polished but I’ll always be me 😉
