Maybelline FIT Me – Powder Foundation

For the past few months I’ve been using my 17 Stay matter powder and I’ve been happy with it. It’s repurchased several times and had no desire to change anything until I spotted the new Maybelline Fit Me range when I recently ran out of the staple product. I wasn’t sure about colour so I chose the palest available on the stand, 120. I would usually apply this with a large duo fibre powder brush and I don’t have any issue with colour when I do this but if I use the powder puff provided it is a touch too dark.

I’ve heard others talk about issues with colour matching across this new range so I’ll be interested to see if I can find a good match in the liquid foundation. Because of the colour issue it’s not fantastic for on the go touch ups but if I was just looking for a setting powder it does the job and does provide more coverage than others I’ve used. My main problem is oil control and I feel that the 17 version has the edge here.

I love the Fit Me packaging and overall product but it’s not going to be a repurchase for me. I need a powder targeted at mattifying and this is great for setting my foundation but it’s not long before I need to touch up my t-zone so it’s not ideal for oily/combination.

I have the 120 foundation but it was a tad too dark for me, I mix it with my Revlon Colorstay in Ivory to even out the colour. I have this powder too! I have dry skin so I don’t have to worry about oil control and I find this powder is really good on me. I apply it with a Real Techniques buffing brush and I get a lovely finish over BB cream and liquid foundation 🙂

Have you tried the Rimmel Stay Matte powder? Everyone goes on about it so much i’d be interested in your opinion? How does it compare?

I have but i switched to the 17 miracle matte purely because it has a mirror and it’s a compact so better for touch ups/ travel

I just recently bought this in shade 125, which doesn’t quite match perfectly with my skin but is close enough. I found it to look nice but when I was outside and looked in a mirror I found it to be extremely shimmery. I felt like a disco ball. Not sure if it was just this shade, but did you find it to be shimmery as well?

It is a very fine shimmer but if you swatch it on your hand and look under different lights, you can see the shimmer particles (at least in my shade).
