Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Foundation

Maybelline SuperStay FoundationI’ve lost count of the foundations I’ve bought lately, I’ve been trialling as many as I can get my hands on in a bid to find the ultimate long wearing, oil controlling finish. I heard mixed reviews about this Super Stay formula but it’s been around for a while so I wanted to give it a go. I also have the new Better Skin version so expect to see something about that one soon too.

Packaging: Perfect in my opinion, I much prefer a pump and a glass bottle, it’s down to preference but it’s what I like. i wish my favourite Colorstay had a pump but alas it’s a tip and apply deal *sigh*

Maybelline SuperStay Foundation Half and HalfIt covers well, the above shows just one layer on the left, you can build on that but on my skin it feels cakey to do so. It settled a little in my pores but this seems to be a trademark of the longer wearing formulas, they’re drier and so they give a less perfect finish but it’s not a deal breaker for me, I can work with it.

The wear time is where I think this is most disappointing. I will put up with a bit of a powdery finish and the niggly residue in my fine lines and pores if it’s going to last but on me this just didn’t. It didn’t disappear completely but these pictures were taken around 7 hours apart and I just expected more from a foundations that claims to last all day and night!

The one thing I did like about Superstay was that i felt it did control my oil more than most. I didn’t powder or blot during the day but I’m not as insanely oily as I would be with no base on at all. I wouldn’t repurchase it and to use it up I will likely mix it in with something else over time but there are better long wearing foundations out there for your money.. stay tuned for my eventual best/worst round up!

Despite this not working all day, one positive i see is it looks to have came over quite evenly and naturally which is a plus. So many foundations wear off on me basically in the middle of my face leaving a huge circle of foundation round the outside which drives me mental haha! Im excited to hear your thoughts on the better skin. I love the concealer but have not bit the bullet with the foundation yet!

I have just bought the Fit Me foundation from Maybelline to try out. I did um and ah over the Better Skin one so it will be interesting to see your thoughts on that one. Hopefully the Fit me one will be alright – I have very similar skin type to yours from reading your posts/ watching your videos. I have yet to find any drugstore product as good for my skin as my Clinique one!

Think I will stay clear from this foundation – I’ve been looking for a new one and want it to last long!

I’ve been using the better skin foundation and had thought of switching to this one, might give it a miss now. Better skin does even my skintone but leaves residue in my pores as you said this one does.

I love this foundation! Think it is super blendable and gives fab coverage. I HATE the Better Skin – it feels so thick and claggy on my skin even though I’ve tried applying with a brush/sponge/beauty blender/fingers/cat…ok not the last one! I have just bought the Fit Me and really like it for a lighter mire breathable finish in the summer, hiwever 24hr Super Stay is probably my HG foundation! X

I went through the same results. It would dry and give me a tired look. I eventually gave it away.
Just discovered you. Liked your blog! 🙂 xx
