Maybelline Velvet Lip Pencils

IMG_4243Oh now you didn’t think you were off the hook on the lip posts ENTIRELY, did you? Luckily we’re back to more affordable, more attainable items such as these awesome matte lip pencils from Maybelline. I bought In With Coral a few months ago and was totally sold but it wasn’t until recently I picked up a couple more and felt ready to review them. I’m glad I didn’t just rave about the one I first chose as that was definitely a good example but the range is not 100% consistent. The finishes and textures vary colour to colour, In With Coral is creamy enough but still matte, Minimalist (the nude/pink) is frosted and much drier to apply.. not half as forgiving on less than perfect lips and Keep It Classy is so rich I can barely believe it came from a pencil. They all set to a near enough matte finish with varying degrees of comfort, Keep It Classy is definitely the winner there but In With Coral has it for colour.. not entirely in season but I just love a good neon bright.

IMG_4269IMG_4270IMG_4267IMG_4268IMG_4271IMG_4272I will be picking up more of these for sure, if you have any suggestions as to which I might NEED let me know but next on my list are Fuchsia Desire/Berry Much.. I think they might be must haves. I’ve tried some higher end lip pencils such as these (NARS for example) in the past and honestly they’re no better.. I’m not saying I wouldn’t buy another but I for sure will buy every one of these before I do!!

Available online here for £4.99 each

I tried two of these and found them drying at first but the more I wore them the more I liked them. I will definitely pick more up though to try more out xx

I love the shades that you chose. My favourite is definitely the last one. I’ve heard so many great things about these lip pencils and was going to pick several up when I was back home in the UK however I read that you lose a lot of product sharpening these and it can get a bit messy. It kinda put me off a bit and I left them on the shelves. They look great on you though! xxx

I love these! I swatched them in store and still haven’t picked one up but they are so creamy!
I’m really over the pencil trend but before I am, I need to get this!

I am a lippy addict …have a box full of both drugstore and high end brands in my quest to find the perfect lippy …the search goes on lol …I think these pencils look lovely on you ..I always love the coral and nude pinks but any nude shade never seems to look right on me ..I tend to look to my lipstick ect to add that pop of life to my face but I can never resist buying nude shades as they always look fantastic on everyone else ….I love the colour keep it classy on you and think I would suit this shade …will be buying some for sure …please never stopp your lippy blogs xxx

I have a few of these and wear Berry Much A LOT. Definitely recommend you get it next!

I love these! Definitely agree about the texture differences though, I have Nude Perfection, which is dry but super long-lasting, and Keep It Classy, which feels much nicer but doesn’t stay put as well, but I still love them 🙂 x

I really like the look of Keep it Classy. The nude colour from this range was on my list but I might have to pick up that colour as well!

Last shade wins it for me, perfect for this time of year and a bargain price, I’m tempted to go out and try one! Lips are the bain of my face, I never feel like anything sits right on them!

I love a new lipstick and the nudey colour one of this looks perfect!
For applying ANY lipstick / lip pencil smoothly i recommend getting a mac lip primer. Slightly more pricey (although I did think they’d be worse that £13) but totally worth it!

Is there a sharpener to accompany them?
I always avoid this type of product through not being able to find a sharpener that suits.

I picked up two of the Maybelline Colour Drama lip pencils and they are comparable to the NARS lip pencils but these are still great for the price. x

I own Red Essential and Berry Much and honestly they are both amazing. Easy to apply, amazing pigmentation and staying power, not drying, definitely worth it!x

I have the dark purple shade and I honestly adore it! I think it works so well with most skin tones! So glad you picked that one up as it looks lovely on yourself too! xx
