Do you remember how I hate Glossybox? Yes well I decided to give them another go. It’s been 18 months since I cancelled my subscription – I kept the Glossybox for Men one but they cancelled the service, shame – and I thought it was time I tried again. I mainly signed up for the Christmas box but also to review whether I deemed it a good gift idea for the coming year, or indeed as a one off box.. so with all of these things in mind I thought a couple of months worth of fees wouldn’t kill me and they may just win me back.
You may be thinking, ‘but this isn’t Glossybox’, and you’d be right.. I also decided to try their newer ‘Miss’ Glossybox service which is aimed at a younger audience, is said to be a little more budget friendly and is cheaper to keep up than the original. Rather than £10 every month it’s just £7 (plus P+P) bimonthly. It’s definitely something I’d consider for my daughter if Ella was of an age where she was experimenting with beauty products.
What’s In The Box?
So..? Fragrance 75ml for £1.69
This is definitely a sign of the age range this is targeting, I’m not sure at 28 I’d be running out to buy body sprays but it would be a nice addition to my gym bag. The scent is reminiscent of my school days and when I asked my husband what he thought he said ‘hairspray’ so.. yeah, Sinful is not going on my shopping list but when I was 13/14 I would have loved it.
Jelly Pong Pong 2 In 1 Shadow/Liner – £10.50
This I actually received in 2 beauty boxes this month.. luckily I actually quite like it. It’s a deep bronze colour and quite blendable though I’d be more likely to use it for a smudgy liner than an all over lid shadow. I’ve never tried anything from this brand before so I’m happy to have received it.
Dermalogica Clear Start Foaming Wash – 177ml for £13.00
When I first opened the bag (that’s right, contrary to the photos on the website there is no box at all here, just a bag) this was the star of the show, mainly because it was a huge box among tiny items but also because I recognise the Dermalogica name. I’ve tried products from their younger skin line before and enjoyed them and this sounds interesting. The packaging feels more expensive than your average spot clearing face wash so again looking at this from a younger girls perspective, I’d be impressed. I actually plan to use this with a new facial brush I’m trialling so I’ll let you know..
Elegant Touch Little Mix Nail Wraps – £6
Brilliant addition to the selection in my opinion, although I initially thought the face wash was the best thing in there I really think this is better. Nail Wraps can be expensive and I myself have never purchased any. I’ve had several in ‘boxes’ such as these but I just can’t justify the cost so as a teen there’s no chance I’d have bought them but I would have sure thought they were neat.. and the added Little Mix affiliation? Well done, Miss Glossybox!
Lacoste Touch Of Pink Perfume Sample- 50ml £38.50
My main gripe with beauty box subscriptions in the past (and I’m not alone here) have been the ridiculous volume of perfume samples. The thing is though that it’s not even like these were fragrances I wanted to sample, they were always crazy, obscure brands that were so expensive I’d never purchase them and almost always a mature, floral fragrance I was never going to like. This I’m actually quite pleased to have as it’s a scent that’s always caught my eye but I’ve actually never tried.. fragrance samples aren’t ALWAYS a bust and given the value of the other items I received I don’t feel hard done by having it included at all.
So overall I’m really happy with this months Miss Glossybox, I will be keeping my subscription to receive another box in the new year and I think depending on the December Glossybox I may just be keeping this one. I will post on the regular box before the end of the month but if they are still available I would definitely recommend this one of the 2.
