This was one of those completely random impulse purchases, I had no need for a new foundation but a matte, long lasting formula for less than £3 was too good not to try. I’ve been contemplating trialling some cheaper foundations for a while since colorstay is pretty expensive full price and it’s not always available in my local cheap makeup shop. I thought this would be comparable so I decided to do a ‘first impressions’ video and review the foundation as my day progressed to see whether it really was that long wearing and matte. In fairness I probably picked the worst day to road test as it snowed heavily on my walk to work so my face was wet before 10am but by lunch my foundation still looked pretty good. At the end of the day you could see some shine and the coverage had definitely worn away a lot but given the conditions I think it held up really well. My main annoyance with this was that it set to quite a powdery finish and that powder settled in to lines and dryness so that when the coverage did wear I was left a little patchy looking. I actually think that the snow helped it to look not quite so dry and cakey. I wore it again the next day with a moisturiser underneath and it performed much better however the day after I was shiny with no coverage by 3 and given that I don’t finish work until 6.. that’s not great. Overall it’s a bit unpredictable, I will keep trying with various primers and powders to see if I can find the winning combination but for me I think my current winter skin just doesn’t like it much.
It didn’t feel heavy on my skin, the coverage was light and if you build it up it can look cakey, it also sets really quickly so you have to apply in sections or it wont blend.. not ideal!
I actually can’t find this online but it was new in store so maybe that’s why. I think it was around £3.69 full price but they’re running a promotion in Boots right now with £1.00 off so if you’re in the market for a budget foundation it’s definitely worth a shot!
