I’ve talked before about how I dislike lip palettes but I have these and I know not everyone shares that disdain so I thought I would let you know what I thought of them ‘objectively’. The packaging feels cheap but then they’re £2.50 a piece and at that price it’s not really about the packaging, is it? It’s pretty difficult to get in to… look and feel aside I want to be able to open something so that was a bit of a negative as it was a real battle.
So.. once I finally got into them they looked quite nice but someone please tell me why they added sponge applicators? These are for eyeshadow, no? They’ve actually launched eyeshadow trios in identical packaging so I can only think it was a cost saving thing to keep the applicators the same, I personally wouldn’t use anything but my fingertips for something like this anyway so not really a big deal but a bit odd.
Looking at how bright the colours were in the pans I was expecting the product to be pretty opaque but these are actually gloss trio’s not lipstick.. huh! I can maybe get on board with a gloss palette as you can retouch and I would apply it the same as I would a tinted balm in a pot.. so it’s not really as off-putting as I first thought and the formula’s are very nice. Although they are sheer and glossy the colour payoff is still good and I can see myself actually using this. The colours I have are Siren (nudes, top swatches) and Temptress (reds, bottom swatches) and shockingly I think I prefer the red selection. They look so different when swatched, almost plum toned so don’t let the appearance in the palette put you off and remember they are glosses so they will be toned down anyway.
All in all I don’t hate this which is strange because I thought I would, don’t get me wrong it’s never going to be a staple but if you’re in to lip products in this form they’re very nice and definitely worth a look for only £2.50 – buy here
