I’ve tried A LOT of beauty boxes.. I still received 3 or 4 per month and so much as I still like them it never really feels very ‘fresh’ when a new one launches. There are different ideas brand to brand and if we’re comparing traditional formats I was probably most impressed with Look Fantastic this month because the products appealed to me most and the samples were generous. There’s definitely still room for those boxes and I will still subscribe to them but My Little Box is a totally new concept.. in fact I wouldn’t categorise it as a beauty box at all.
From what I can gather (and the only info I have is from their website) it’s a box of items which is edited to a new theme each month. Last month it was My Little Weekend Box, this month it’s My Little PARISIENNE box, fitting as it’s my first box and the the concept was spawned from the My Little Paris brand – read about that here (in French)
There is a beauty element to My Little Box but it’s really more lifestyle than anything else. The small selection above was nice, I actually got the Laura Mercier primer in another box this month but a second sample is always welcome as I’m hoping to love it. I haven’t tried the Nuxe oil before but I’ve heard a lot about it so I’m excited to try that and the third item (a highlighter pen) is from their own line ‘My Little Beauty’ so I’m particularly interested to see that in action. Everything is put together in this cute, cotton bag which (if you ask me, which you didn’t but here goes) is far superior to the Birchbox version. I keep them to separate underwear, jewellery etc when traveling so some people may not care but it’s a nice quality addition that I appreciate.
Much as I like the beauty bits I think the best of this box is EVERYTHING else. There was an illustrated card, definitely worthy of framing, a note book which had some info on the brand but was otherwise blank for my own use, a sheet of 3D stickers that I’m trying to keep away from the children and possible best of all.. a laptop sleeve that FITS MY LAPTOP! I mean.. it couldn’t fit more perfectly so I’m fairly certain it’s been designed with macbook loving bloggers in mind (mine is 13in for those wondering.. The Laptop, THE LAPTOP!!)
The box is a monthly service however you can cancel at any time and you can check out all of the previous boxes and subscribe (if you like) for £14.95 (including P+P) online here.
