I don’t usually get in to movies and TV here on my blog but I’ve spent most of my morning looking up New York based films to get me in the mood for our trip in January. I was looking for suggestions more than anything but came away deciding that everything worth watching was already on my list and most made up the all time top 5 constantly running in my head. Those these aren’t exclusively NY they ARE exclusively rom-coms and if I didn’t already have them downloaded they are being added to my iTunes library as I type.
Sleepless In Seattle
You’ve Got Mail
One Fine Day
The Holiday
When Harry Met Sally
I wouldn’t class myself as a Meg Ryan fan but looking at the list I have to admit.. I must like her. There are countless others I could mention – It’s Complicated, First Wives Club.. actually anything with Goldie Hawn or Diane Keaton for that matter – it’s really too difficult to narrow it down to just 5 but as of right now these are they. First Wives Club MAY overtake The Holiday in a less festive season. There are plenty of other genres I like and films I have loved but there are very few I could watch over and over. The Cider House Rules for example is a brilliant film but it’s long and sad and not something I often feel like watching.. yet I’d still recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it. I usually tailor my viewing to my mood or upcoming events, I’ve been watching Christmas films since September and now we’ve finally booked our trip to New York I will be seeking out anything with a glimpse of the skyline to feed our excitement.. does anyone else do that?
If any of you want to share your all time favourites or recommend a good New York film, leave a comment.. it’s one of my favourite subjects and yet I never seem to talk with you about it.. I see a ‘Khila Talk’ video coming soon!

I classic New York based film is Manhattan, a really good Woody Allen movie which also stars Diane Keaton! happythankyoumoreplease is another good rom com that not many people have heard about. New York, I Love You is another good one. I’m so jealous of you going to New York in January, it is probably my all time favourite city 🙂

is that the same as Manhattan Murder Mysteries? I’ve become a Woody Allen fan purely through the New York connection alone haha
No that’s a different movie! It’s just called Manhattan and is in black and white. Haha I know, I love Woody Allen movies, so many are set in New York 🙂
The Holiday is one of my favourites to watch on ITV2 around Christmas, it’s always on! xx

Home Alone 2 – in fact this is vital xmas viewing in our house as it always gets me into the mood so this will no doubt be playing in our house soon whilst we’re snuggled up with a hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Home Alone 2 also falls firmly in the New York category so will definitely be a must see for is this year
You’ve Got Mail is my favourite rom-com of all time followed by My Big Fat Greek Wedding (which isn’t set in New York but I thought I’d mention it).
