A conversation with a friend at the weekend led to the subject of lying at our eye tests as kids because we each desperately wanted glasses. I confess that even as an adult I’ve been willing the optician to find more then a 00000.1 wrong with my eyes to that I could wear a pair and I KNOW that those who have to resent them.. isn’t it odd? They’re a fashion accessory that the visually impaired had exclusive rights to until someone decided it was cool to wear fashion lenses.. enter Select Specs. I was sent this pair to review, I’ve been offered glasses in the past but given that I don’t actually wear a prescription it always seemed a little redundant HOWEVER, 1. I will now where these around the house and pretend I’m smart (I know, I know.. stereotypes – not the worst one though, huh?)and 2. They are SO cheap I thought that those of you who DO wear them would be interested in the site – see how I totally resisted the sight/site pun, I know.. I’m growing!

These glasses are £10.00 including your prescription lenses but you can also choose clear fashion lenses which I have or tinted/coloured ones which were also appealing to me.. I was think yellow, 90s style might be cool – are most of you too young to remember that trend? They don’t feel like expensive glasses but if I genuinely needed them to see I know I am the most clumsy person and I would rather have 10 pairs of these than a super expensive pair and lets face it, if you do look after them then they will last anyway.. it’s not like they’re going to see a tremendous amount of wear and tear sitting on your face and the hinges feel strong.. as strong as hinges CAN feel anyway.

Select Specs also sell designer sunglasses as a huge discount too (much more up my street) – I got this pair from them and absolutely love them.. they were tough to find on other sites too. Sunglasses are a little different, i don’t mind spending the money on those because I don’t wear them every day and it’s not like I can’t see without them if I do break/lose them.. though I sincerely hope I don’t.

You can purchase the glasses I’m wearing online here.

EDIT

Select Specs have kindly created a 10% off code for my readers – MBB10 – this can be used on ANYTHING on site including sunglasses and is valid until 31/12/14 (which is pretty amazing) so even if you don’t need it now you have the rest of the YEAR to take advantage!

I remember the yellow lens trend, you’re not the only one!

I love my glasses but there are days when I wish I could ditch em!

Do they fit well? The bridge of my nose is quite small so I don’t know if it’d be worth getting glasses online.

Oh wow I can’t believe these are £10 including prescription! I really need to buy some of these, even though I wear contacts daily I need a cheap pair I can just chuck in my bag for uni, rather than taking my expensive ones!

I received my order the other day only to have 2 pairs of someone else’s glasses! No sign of mine yet and I’m pretty sure there’s someone looking for these.
