I was going to review this almost as soon as I got it but a couple of people commented on my haul video that they had liked it at first but it had broken them out and made their skin produce more oil than usual. With that in mind I didn’t want to recommend it and then later discover that it did the same to me so I’ve given it a few weeks… I like it.
I say I like it rather than love it mainly because it doesn’t really do anything for my skin other than (hopefully) protect it from the sun. Until now I’ve had nothing shielding me from those premature aging rays other than whatever may or may not be in my foundation, when I turned 27 I decided it was time to step up my skin care and adding a facial spf was job one. I’d not heard of many drugstore moisturisers which did the job and worked well under makeup so I decided to pick up this Neutrogena on a whim in the hope it had slipped through the beauty blogging net. I’m not sure that’s the case as it would seem that not everyone loves this formula but as someone who isn’t used to wearing anything under her foundation I was pleasantly surprised that not only did it not leave me feeling oily but it hasn’t broken me out or caused any adverse reaction whatsoever. I’ve quickly gotten used to the feeling of applying my makeup to a hydrated face and just using it in general, I’m usually terrible for keeping up a morning skincare routine but this was easy. As a moisturiser is absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave much in the way of a residue which is what makes it so great as a makeup base for someone like me with oily, spot prone skin.
One last note on this, it’s available in two formulas, Normal/Combination & Dry/Sensitive which is a nice little bonus, I obviously chose the first so can’t tell you how the other compares but I do wonder if perhaps those who found it too oily were using the one formulated for drier skins. Let me know if you’ve tried this yourself and how you liked/disliked it.
Full price this is £7.99 which is pretty steep for a daily moisturiser in my opinion however lots of you have been in touch telling me it’s stocked in Home Bargains and similar online stores for a fraction of that so if you’re interested in trying it but are worried it might not be for you, shop around first!
