Next Colour Compacts

I saw something like this on instagram recently but can’t for the life of me remember what it was. I think for a highstreet fashion brand that really hasn’t had much good press when it comes to beauty Next have launched some very nice looking products this Autumn. If you removed their motif from the lid you’d be hard pressed to guess where this was from and the powder inside is pretty good too. When you swirl several shades of anything together it’s supposed to create a more natural colour and I think that’s true of these compacts. I will say that I am not the biggest fan of the bronzer but that is 100% down to the shimmer. I am filming a day to night look for Next this week and I’m not sure I’d wear the bronzer during the day, it’s all down to the individual but there’s such a lot of glitter and It’s just not me.. maybe for the evening.

The blush gives more of a sheen than all out glitter ball and is definitely something I’d pick up if I saw it in store. It’s very sheer which you may know is a big tick for me where powders are concerned.. I tend to be heavy handed and this is one of those colours you can build up rather than frantically blending out when you’ve taken it a bit far. I don’t think you could pick out individual colours here because of that, though. The pay off isn’t good enough to do that swatching on my hand let alone with a brush, it’s designed to be swirled and so swirl I shall.

Again, these don’t appear to be available online which I hate because I can’t offer a link for you but I believe they retail for £3 which is an absolute steal. I would steer clear of the bronzer if you prefer more matte/satin finishes but if you like a golden glow it will be right up your alley. The blush I would recommend universally, I’m not sure how it would work on darker skins as it’s really quite sheer but the small amount of shimmer that does translate when applied may act as a nice highlight so worth a go for all I’d say.

I’m excited to see more from Next beauty and so far it’s looking really affordable and much higher quality than I’ve come to expect from them in this department. I still have a couple more products to show you before my tutorial will go up (hopefully this weekend) but if you’ve tried anything from the new season let me know!

we just have these preconceptions when it comes to certain brands and unfortunately I think Next is one of them but hopefully they can change that x
