Obsession Du Jour

michael kors selmaI have loved the Michael Kors Selma bags for as long as I can remember but I’ve never REALLY wanted one until now. The main factor putting me off was the structure, it’s not really my style, I’m more of a casual/slouchy kinda gal and Selma is definitely not casual. I’m not sure what but something flipped over the weekend and now this bag is all I can think about, the question now is which one am I most lusting after?

I’ve narrowed it down to three – the patent – very VERY formal and nice for Winter, the navy – which I think will work in all seasons and makes it different from the other bags I have.. I’m not sure about the regular black because I already have black bags.. and finally the raspberry.. *swoon* – isn’t she a beaut? I seriously love that colour but being realistic how often am I going to get the opportunity to wear such a bright bag? I feel like the pink would give that serious wow factor and I’d be so in love with the bag BUT the Navy is more wearable and it’s a very ‘me’ colour. Its probably the one I will go for but.. ugh!! The RASPBERRY!!

Another question is size, It seems that the most popular (and readily available) is the large but I’m considering the medium as I think it will fit everything I need and the smaller sizes look a little neater in my opinon. I REALLY love the cross body style but that’s a little too small.. the difference n cash between the medium/large is £55.. not huge but enough to push me in that direction for that reason too.

Do any of you have this bag? I’m stalking every review I can find but I’d love to hear from one of you if you’ve used it for a while. I know they’re very popular but I guess there’s a good reason.. practical and pretty!

I treated myself to the patent selma a few months ago and its one of my favourite purchases ever. I bought it in florida so it was £100 cheaper than UK prices but i wouldnt think twice about paying UK prices for another one now. Its so wearable you really wouldnt regret it.

As a big fan of coloured bags, I would say go for the raspberry!! It’s gorgeous! Yes, it can be a little harder to match to outfits but in my experience I find that you end up choosing outfits centred around the bag. It’ll surprise you how many outfits go nicely with it, and you’ll use it a ton!

I love the raspberry but I’m a safe girl and would say the navy so you can wear it more.

I bought one just last weekend and am loving it so much. I love that it feels so sturdy and just goes with everything. I bought mine in the tan/brown colour as I’ve never owned a brown bag 🙂

Beautiful bag!! The black and navy would go with more but I’ve seen a few people with the raspberry and it looks incredible!

Primark have one very very similar in black in at the moment with a little bit of gold trim on the front for a tenner.. maybe get that one and see if you can work with it?! I’m the same as you and prefer slouchy bags.. but I got the Primark one and love it! 🙂

I sell these bags for a living and we see the raspberry sell better than the navy. It is more wearable than you think. Really there’s only red outfits that won’t work with the colour. And I always tell customers to buy what they love no matter how impractical they see it as you will want to wear it more than the practical choice. Also in terms of the structure yes your right it’s very ‘stiff’ however when using the long strap clipped on across the zip of the bag it does sit quite well on the hip (but obv not as well as a genuine leather) hope that helped x

I wanted this, went to buy it (with my lovely other half paying!) And was really let down by the quality! So I ended up with a similar style tote from Ralf Lauren in the same hot pink which is 100% leather and absolutely stunning. I also ended up buying a Kate spade bag in a sea green because the quality of the Kate spade bags was so much higher than the MK ones.
