Yet another post I thought I’d written. For those unfamiliar with my scheduling process I will be writing a whole post on ‘how I blog’ very soon. I get so many questions about how I fit it all in I thought I’d finally answer them all. Anyway, enough about me and more about this lovely new day cream that I’ve been using. It already featured in my Winter Skin Savers post which may be a bit of a giveaway as to my feelings towards it but if you didn’t read that then let me tell you, I very much like it. I feel like lately I’ve been in love with everything and when I read post after gushing post on one particular blog I tend to grow skeptical. I can understand if you feel the same, especially when I am privy to PR samples but I am always honest regardless of whether I pay for a product or it is sent to me. I will admit when I first tried this I didn’t like it. Well.. it’s not that I didn’t like it I just wasn’t WOWED, y’know? It seemed so basic and I so rarely am over the moon about a face cream. I’ve loved cleansers, spot treatments and conditioners but face cream.. it has one job and if it does it that’s fine. I just don’t often get that excited about it unless it does something a bit different.
Now the lovely folks over at Organic surge know my skin type so when they sent over the Blissful Daily Moisturiser for ‘normal’ skin I was a little worried. I have recently been prone to more than one womans share of blemishes and any product designed for anything less than the oiliest skin I’ve been wary of. When I opened up the jar (glass – very nice) I was even less enthused, it looked thick and greasy and I wasn’t looking forward to writing it up. Day one – I used it under my makeup for work.. it didn’t go well. It’s too heavy for that purpose on my oily/combination skin type and I was ready to write it off then and there until fellow blogger The Sunday Girl tweeted something about using it as a night cream. This my friends is where this little gem came in to it’s own. After cleansing I applied this, suddenly it felt light as air, whipped almost, it’s water based so it felt fresh and absorbed quickly.. perfect. I have been using this for 3 weeks now and (touch wood) haven’t had so much as a threat of a breakout. I can’t say this is entirely responsible but I am very pleased with it thus far. It’s so much lighter than I thought it would be at first glance and now I’m using it in the evenings (and occasional mornings when I’m off work and makeup free) it’s like a different animal.
If you only take one thing from this post and really don’t care about the product review in question it should be this – don’t just give up on a product when it doesn’t do what it’s designed to do.. it may work better for you another way for another purpose. Skin care is so personal so as I always say, what works for me may not for you but since trying more natural products I’m definitely coming around to the idea that they are better for you.
