Real Techniques Duo Fibre Brushes

IMG_9524

I’ve had this set for about a month now, I’m not sure you can review brushes straight off the bat because you might love it  the first time you try it but how will it work over time?/how will they wash? etc. Duo fibre brushes were definitely the one category I felt was missing from the Real Techniques line, I could quite happily get rid of everything but that brand in my stash but I would need to hold on to one of my powder brushes because the RL options were all too dense for a light application. My only irritation with these is the shape, I prefer a round brush for pressed powder whereas the biggest in this set is squished so it’s more flat in shape.. it’s not like I CAN’T use it it’s just something to note. I also find that they’re initially too soft to pick up much product, I think they work better the more you use them as they get a rougher texture. They’re almost too silky to blend etc so again this is something that at first I would have been unhappy with but I can see them improving with age – which is what you want from your makeup tools, right?

The mid size is nice for the heavier blushes that I want a light application of and the very smallest is nice for precision highlighting or blending out eyeshadow. I have brushes that fit each of these categories in my collection and if I’m honest I don’t prefer the Real Technique versions because of the slight variations in shape and the way too silky fibres. Each of the others I was happy with using from day one however that being said they were all more expensive too. I would say that after a few washes (I’ll be really scrubbing them to try and knock that softness out) they will be better but of all of the RL brushes I own (most of them) these were the least impressive.

Do any of you have these? Do you like them?

Available online here for £23.99

I like this set, I use the big one for blush and I don’t usually bother contouring but I like the medium sized brush for that when I do. I haven’t gotten much use out of the smaller one though because its too scratchy. I know it would probably soften up if I used it more because I had that problem with a RT brush before but I don’t really need it for anything.

I’ve looked at these a few times but don’t think they will do anything that the brushes I have already do. Really glad I have read this post so I know what to expect, love the RL range but probably wont be buying this particular set x

I’ve got a few of the Real Techniques brushes and love them but I want to pick up a few more. Think I’ll definitely be trying out the Duo Fibre brushes!

I’ve had these for just under a year, the only one I really use is the large one for powder (got better with age) it applies just the right amount. The others I use once in a blue moon. I’m not a big fan but they occasionally come in useful. I think the way you describe them is spot on x

I got this set a few months ago. I love the blush brush but the eye brush in my set is extremely sharp in the crease and jags me. I guess I got a dodgy set.

I would shop around for these as I managed to get them for £17 instead of £23 think either from
Amazon or hq hair or look fantastic xx

Also I find these duo finer brushes good for
Mac blushes that have rubbish pay off for some
Reason these blushes seem to pick up the product without hassle so weird lol

I didn’t think I really needed these (but totally bought them anyway!) and have come to really love the medium sized brush for blush, bronzer, and highlighting.

    Hi!

I love the real techniques brushes and was wondering if it was worth getting the duo-fiver to add to my collection… this has definitely helped.

Also… Where is the lipstick holder in the background of the photo from? I love it!! (Bit of a storage geek)

Glad I stumbled across your blog today 🙂 x

I bought these brushes a few months ago as I loved all of my other Real Techniques brushes so much and I wasn’t as impressed with these either, I very rarely use them xx
