Return Of The Filofax

You heard me.. Filofax! I don’t know how I’ve survived so long without one! In my late teens/early twenties I had a knock off version that never left my side, I kept my whole life in that thing and somewhere in my house it’s hiding with my National Insurance card safely tucked in it’s inside pocket. I have always found it so much easier to write things down and keep a pysical, paper diary than hold notes and dates in my phone/ipad.. I just like writing, I’m sure I’m not alone. There are a few things that have come up recently that have made me miss my organiser – I need various codes for tax and to view my payslips online and I can never find them when I need them. I’m always missing appointments and I don’t even remember the last time I saw my dentist.. enter the personal saffiano Filofax in purple. Isn’t she a beaut? I had considered an a5 size but decided it wasn’t practical to take on the go.. especially since I have a potentially more compact handbag purchase on the horizon (excited) which I knew wouldn’t hold it.. so I chose the personal. I seem to remember buying a pocket one once and never using it because it just wasn’t comfortable to write in – this one is perfect.

Here’s what I have in mine right now..

I have 2 types of diary, the month to 2 page and the week to 2 page. The first is great to see my appointments/bills/paydays at a glance and the second is better for organising my week. I’ve also slotted in some to do lists which I update on a weekly basis and I have notes for each of my channels and my blog at the end to keep a tally of videos I want to make and plan for those which need a little more thought. I bought the plastic wallet style card holders with pictures in mind but am yet to fill them and some post its which I’ve hidden in the cover because I’ve basically run out of binder space. That’s really the only negative with the organiser I chose, the rings aren’t really big enough for the copious notes I plan to keep in them.. of course the beauty of a Filofax is that at some point I can upgrade and take all of those notes and my diary with me.. I’m already looking at reviews to find something in a personal size with more paper space – suggestions welcome!

So far I’ve seen a serious turn up in productivity since having the Filofax and as someone who is easily distracted and was born procrastinating it’s a great way to keep on top of everything and keep myself in check.. I’ve even started putting my household chored on my lists.. it’s working! I would definitely recommend this if you’re looking to get more organised but like I say.. if you want to add lots more paper you may want a larger size.

This would have been a better idea than having 2 separate diaries and a notebook. I actually have an old a5 filofax that just needs new inserts, thank you for the idea, this would be a great help for my life and my blogs.

I love the colour! I don’t know what I’d do without my filofax. Keep an eye out in TKMaxx, they often have some nice ones.

I love my filoxfax. In fact, I love everything organisational. Notebooks are essential in my life!

I’ve just posted how to give your eyeliner staying power all day in 3 easy steps (even on oily lids!).

I just couldn’t get into the habit of using my filofax and carrying it around. I’ve ended up keeping it at home and using it as a “home management binder” (search that in youtube and you’ll find a whole new community haha) and I use my phone for the calendar. I’ve been using pieces of paper or my phone for little things like shopping lists or to do lists because I usually throw them away at the end of the day but I’ve just bought a really pretty little martha stewart note book so I’ll be using that instead. Can’t argue with the endless customization options of the filofax though.

I used to use a filofax but I don’t know where it went. I now use an 18 month Moleskein planner, I don’t have many loose papers anyway and I like how it has days of the week opposite a lined page for notes/lists. I prefer writing things by hand too. I am regularly tempted be a roterfaden as they’re completely customisable and you can keep any papers in them but I can’t really justify the cost.

This is gorgeous! Now you’ve got me wanting one. Isn’t this the Compact version? Binder rings are a bit smaller than the Personal version. Not sure if names are different in the UK but I’ve been obsessively stalking the FiloFax website. I’m unsure of whether I would use one so possibly I shouldn’t commit to it but a cheaper version first.

I adore my filofax and couldn’t live without it. A diary on my phone just doesn’t compare to having everything all together in one place in a physical form that I can browse through.

I love all kinds of organizing, especially the filofax! 😀

Having any kind of planner or organiser that is sufficiently well formatted to your particular needs definitely helps when it comes to staying on top of everything going on in life.
The colour of your Filofax is so vibrant – and I love that you’ve coordinated the ink you use inside to the colour! It’s the details…

I love to see what others are doing with their Filofaxes! It’s great that you’ve rediscovered paper planners. There’s a wonderful community that’s thriving (and growing) online and we’re all just loving our planners!

I too have wandered back to ring binders this year. I’ve used a paper and computer planning at home and work, together and separate. Life changes and organisation has to change with it.
