Revlon Matte Balm / NEW SHADES

IMG_7765I’m shamefully late in sharing these as I picked them up ‘new’ LAST season and they’re SO not Spring/Summer, are they? But still. Revlon Matte Balms are some of my favourite ‘drugstore’ lipsticks for formula and colour choice so I had to show you them, no matter how late to the party I am. The formula isn’t consistent colour to colour so there are definitely hits and misses for me but on the whole they’re a comfortable creamy lip crayon with a matte finish.

Typically the bolder shades have a slightly nicer finish and wear a little better but these new colours buck that trend slightly.. and not in a good way. Enchanting is a little patchy but still better than the original ‘Complex’ nude. Fiery was unusually glossy for the Matte Balm range, much nicer on, definitely my pick of the bunch. Fierce was the one I was most excited about and of course that’s always the biggest disappointment. My lips weren’t in the best condition at the time of swatching and it really exhaggerated every area of dryness.. not pretty and not comfortable to wear.

I will still always pick up new colours from this line when they’re released as it remains one of my favourites but finding the best of the bunch is trial and error. If you’d like to see the original shades swatched take a look at this post. There’s also a video review attached for those who prefer to listen to chatter than read my rambles!

The shades look good, but I hate patchy lip products. My favourite shade from the line is Sultry. It is so comfortable to wear.

Fiery and Fierce are beautiful! They are still good colours to wear these days because spring hasn’t really arrived yet 😉 It’s true that the formula shows dry patches, that’s why I don’t wear matte lipsticks unfortunately 🙁

I love how honest your reviews always are! Wanted to try these shades out, but I think I’ll give them a miss from what you’ve said, dryness is never good!
