Revlon Photoready BB Cream

IMG_0987I’m a big BB cream fan, I don’t require a great deal of coverage day to day so a little something to even everything out and knock out some of the redness is perfect. Anything else is for the concealer to work it’s magic on. This, coverage wise is exactly what I need. The packaging is okay, it’s a squeezy tube as with most products of this kind but when it comes to base I really do prefer a bottle.. preferably with a pump, something that helps meter how much product I’m using. I’ve heard reports that this particular packaging can crack after a while, obviously I haven’t been using this heavily so I can’t comment on that but if it does you can be sure I’ll update you.

IMG_2069For those of us with combination skin base can be a problem, matte can be too drying, dewy can be too shiny and exactly what we’re trying to avoid. It’s really tough to find that ideal satin finish in a product witch just the right amount of coverage for you. This isn’t that perfect combination for me unfortunately but it might be for you. It doesn’t settle in to dry areas, it leaves a lovely glowy finish and just an overall healthy look to my skin. In theory it’s great and I should love it but until the heat dies down completely and we’re well out of the humid zone it just disappears in the oil by midday. Even with powders etc it just wont stay put. Because my skin is combination however it can’t really make it’s mind up week to week what it wants to be so I may well revisit this in a couple of months and be entirely in love with it.. it’s just not ideal for the height of the oily months. I wanted to add in that disclaimer however as I think you might really love it if your skin is on the drier side.

Bit of a mixed review I know but usually with a base I either love it or hate it, this kind of reminds me of Nars Sheer Glow in the way that I love the finish when it’s freshly applied but it just doesn’t last.. if it did I’d be all over it. Before you mention primers I am yet to find one that does ANYTHING at all for me.. bar maybe the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm which is really more skincare than cosmetic. My face is a law unto itself I’m afraid.

Have you tried this? Did you love it?

If you’re looking for a primer, have you tried the Rimmel Stay Matte primer? I have combination skin too and though I will admit it’s the only primer I’ve ever even tried, I find it evens out my skin and does help make my base last! It’s also got a really nice silky texture without being too thick, in my opinion 🙂

I really don’t love primers, I tried that and I just hate the silicone feeling.. I know it’s not but it just feels like grease which is the opposite of what I’m trying to achieve lol.. it’s a mental primer block for me haha

I have to agree with you here about your mixed review. I, too, have combo skin. I love BB creams and it can be super difficult to find one that’s perfect for your skin type. I know that this isn’t really budget-friendly, but I found Laneige BB Cushion to be perfect for my skin type. I got it at Target, and it comes with a refill pack so you’re really getting 2-in-1. Just a though 🙂

I have combination skin, so I know what you mean when you say it’s hard to find a BB cream that’s good for you to use. I know Rimmel has a matte one which was ok, although I only tried a sample so the colour was totally wrong for me haha. However it lasted on my skin alright. x

I have combination skin as well, so I know what you mean about the shiny thing! I am using a Maybelline one but it was for the Asian market. The search for the perfect one continues!

I agree with you about this being something for the cooler months. I have combo skin as well (oily on t-zone and normal/dry on cheeks ). And for me, while I love the look it gives me, it begins to slide off on my forehead and feel heavy. But. I save it for the cooker months and use it then!

Interesting. It does sound like quite a nice product, great for those days where you can’t really be bothered with proper makeup.
