Scents Of Summer

IMG_1802I am a huge sucker for candles but I rarely find a summer scent I really enjoy. There are an abundance of beautifully sweet and musky Winter fragrances but the Summer selections are usually too sickly for my tastes.. this is a good mix but I’m happy to say I have a favourite among them.

Early Sunrise

The newest addition to my collection.. I’m still on the fence. It’s definitely not offensive scent, it’s fresh and a little citrusy but there’s not a great deal of throw. It smells nice in the jar but unless it’s been burning for a couple of hours I don’t get that fragrant hit that I have come to expect from Yankee.

Waikiki Melon

This is my second jar of this, in case that didn’t give it away this is my favourite. It’s fruity but not too sweet, again very fresh but in this case I only have to burn it for a matter of minutes before the room is filled with melony deliciousness. It’s a very authentic scent so if you don’t like the idea of melon you wont love this.

Juicy Watermelon

I thought this could be another favourite but unlike Waikiki Melon the watermelon fragrance in this one is very synthetic – to me, anyway. This is one I’d have preferred to be a little weaker but it’s usual Yankee strong, it’s worth mentioning that my husband and daughter both like this scent so it may just be a preference thing.

Scents are very personal and what smells great to me might make you sick to your stomach but these are my thoughts on some of the summer offerings fro Yankee Candle. I’d highly recommend Waikiki Melon, everyone loves that in my house and Early Sunrise is a nice subtle fragrance I tend to burn more in my kitchen than anywhere else.. still a recommendation I’m not not as in love with it as the other.

I’m like you in loving winter scents but finding the summer scents too sickeningly sweet. I really like the strawberry buttercream candle from Yankee. It smells gross in the jar, but when it’s burning, it smells buttery and cakey, but still light enough for summer.

I love Yankee Candles, and my all time favourite is Cinnamon Stick, which is a totally autumny/winter scent, but a close second is Clean Cotoon, which is just beautiful. Nevertheless, I have not tried any of the ones you have written about so I am off to find these three now 🙂

My latest addiction is the Beach Wood scent. Its technically a summer scent but its not sweet, its a bit woody but not heavy. It basically fills the room with a nice, but unobtrusive scent.
