The video for this will go up tomorrow but I decided to post this today since it seemed a little fated that Organic Surge launched a huge sale today and half of my current products are from them. If you know me you’ll know I’m more than happy to use whatever chemicals necessary to make my skin (and hair for that matter) look and feel better but if they can be on the more organic/natural side then that has to be bonus, right?
This post (and the whole switch up for that matter) was inspired by a comment on my latest skin care in action video where someone told me the legend that is Caroline Hirons would have me in the stocks for some of what I was using. Now I’m not entirely sure which products she was referring to but when I was stuck on a train this weekend the comment popped in to my head and I decided to use that time to do a little research. Turns out Caroline recently made a video with the Pixiwoo girls (I know, I am the absolute last to know) about the good the bad and the ugly of skincare.. makes for very interesting viewing, I will embed it at the end of this post for you to watch. I knew face wipes were a no no as your regular cleanser and cut those out a while ago but I had no idea foaming washes were so terrible for you, they’re targeted towards oilier, blemish prone skin but the way Caroline tells it they do nothing but make those issues worse.. nightmare! Needless to say my L’Oreal wash has been relegated to my beauty cupboard and as luck would have it when doing so I discovered a balm cleanser (which Caroline says all skin types should be using) I hadn’t used up so that was an easy switch. She speaks about the ‘new toners’ which exfoliate and secondary toning.. all very scientific and expensive, I’m sure I will find a cheaper way to do it but you can see her recommendations in the video. Long story short I’m still very happy with my ‘night’ cream from OS and have added in an eye gel from them which I’m also really liking, I’m swapped face wash for cleansing balm and added in this ‘Glow Tonic’ from Pixi which I had coincidentally bought during my weekend in London ahead of watching the video.. spooky! The biggest change for me is I’m not longer using my Clarisonic, this is because it doesn’t really go with the balm. I’m not sure how Caroline feels about facial brushes, she sure as hell hates scrubs but that’s next on my list to look up. My skin has been so blah looking lately and I was looking for something I just didn’t know what it was until I saw the video. I’m not suggesting you throw out your skincare and start over but her advice is backed up with a great deal of knowledge and experience so I will bear her points in mind while shopping for products in future.. I don’t think I’ll be buying a £400 face cream though.
