Whenever I attempt a smile in outfit photos I always look smug. I think it’s because my photographer is my husband and I struggle to strike a ‘serious pose’ in front of him but regardless.. smug! This outfit was centered around my new handbag acquisition.. those of you who follow me on twitter/instagram will know I was very much looking forward to this purchase and after much (a little) deliberation I decided to go for it and I am so happy I did. The leather is beautifully soft and the colour is just perfect! So I had a bag and that was it.. it’s so hot right now in the UK I must have tried on every dress I own before settling on this more casual look.. I would have gone out in underwear had it been socially acceptable.. I’m seriously not a summer person. I have already started buying for the Autumn/Winter season ahead but I’ve decided while we have sun to try and make the most of it and get as many summery outfits posted as possible. Of course in order for me to ‘do’ do summer and bare my usually bleak white limbs I had to tan. You can read all about my experience with Cocoa Brown tan here but this is the second time I’ve applied it and I’m quite happy never to use another tanner again.. so, so impressed and as a little update from the previous review (which I posted a week later than actually using it, for those wondering) it lasted around 5 days on me – and I shave my legs EVERY DAY, that’s another story (you can read about it here)

For these photos I borrowed a technique from Maegan Tintari, I once read on her blog (here) that she’s such a perfectionist she makes her husband stand in for her while she finds the right background, lighting etc, takes test shots and then they can go. From what I’ve read of her blog her husband sounds a lot like mine, entirely supportive of her blog and yet not really into the picture taking, just going through the motions for her. Lee is not a photographer so if I can set up the shots for him that will definitely cut down on the retakes after he’s taken them all with the light behind me, haha. On that note these were taken at 7pm… how great is the light at 7pm? I know!

*What I’m Wearing*

Tshirt – H&M (similar here) / Shorts – Primark (I love these and may have to have them in every colour – just wish they weren’t so low rise *muffin top alert*) / Wedges – Nine West / Bag – Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC (I buy from a UK seller who ships fast and there are no surprise customs charges, would highly recommend – link) / Rings – H&M (I ordered shoes and these came in their place, strange!) / Bracelets – Next & Primark / Necklace – Tiffany Notes Initial Pendant / Watch – Michael Kors (this has done so well, was a Christmas present a couple of years ago and this week I found a scratch on the face *sob*)
