I’ve got that Sunday Feeling!! Sunday is a big skincare day for me, I tend to dig through my stuff and try new things as well as treat myself to my weekly PMD session (more info on this soon) and a mask. Last week I pulled out this bunch of products to test and I thought I would give you my first impressions..
I haven’t tried anything from Balance Me before and to be totally honest I wasn’t that interested.. I’ve received things in beauty boxes before and just put them in my ‘sample drawer’ to gather dust. I received a big box of goodies from the brand recently and I picked out the things that interested me most.. one thing I haven’t included here but have tried and loved is the Facial Expression Filler.. it’s designed to be used to target all fine lines but I’ve used it in place of an eye cream and it feels so luxurious.. It’s expensive but the way I’m using it will last me ages so I would consider the purchase when it’s finished.. although I still love my Sanctuary Peptide eye cream. The two products that didn’t WOW me were the Radiance Face Mask and the Radiance Facial Oil. I don’t know what it was but they didn’t do much, I’m sure some people will love them but when you’re spending that extra money on a higher end skincare brand I want to feel that extra money and I didn’t here. The winner of the Balance Me bunch has to be the Cleanse & Smooth Face Balm, I am happy with my Superdrug hot cloth cleanser but for those nights when I want to pamper myself this is absolutely amazing, it leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth! I mentioned the brand recently and someone said that it was expensive but the products that work REALLY work and from just a little testing I would agree.. excited to try more!
I have tried a facial cleanser from Jurlique before and really enjoyed it. It was foaming but nourishing, so gentle.. my only irritation was the scent. I swear they inject such a strong rose scent in to EVERY product it drives me mad, I know it’s a trend right now but not everyone loves it. I was excited to try something else from them but 90% of what they sent me was.. you guessed it, ROSE! This was refreshingly different, still a little floral but light and almost minty. This Purifying, Foaming Cleanser isn’t SUPER foaming but gives just enough to rid your skin of any residue from your first cleanse (with balms, oils etc I always feel like I need a second cleanse) without drying your skin. It also seems to be a huge amount of product for how little I’m using each time.. another that is costly but will last a while.
I’ve hardly tried anything from S5, it’s a super pricey brand and I tend to avoid spending too much on something I might fall in love with.. I don’t want to have to keep buying a £30 face wash.. but it’s nice to try things and compare them to the cheaper products I already love. I feel like the S5 Purity Serum is something I’d need to use over a longer period before I could really say whether it was worth the price tag as I don’t have major breakouts often but this week I’ve had a sudden outbreak and I have found this to be effective. I’ve been using other things overnight and worn this underneath my makeup in lieu of a primer/moisturiser and it’s a great base but other than the pipette action it doesn’t FEEL expensive. I may change my mind on this in future but right now it’s just too expensive for me to endorse.
Feel Good Formulas
I’ve tried some things from Arran Aromatics (the parent company of FGF) in the past and been a bit ‘meh’ about them.. they’re nice but not super exciting. I recently tried their bath oil however – see a post on that here – and was really impressed so I decided to give this Chamomile & Honey Barrier Cream a go. Initially I was going to avoid it and pop it in Milos basket as I’ve only ever known barrier creams to be created with nappy rash etc in mind but I tested it on my hand it it didn’t seem like the same kind of product. It’s actually much lighter and absorbs into the skin unlike sudocrem etc, it even works well under makeup which perhaps surprised me the most. The scent is subtle, I’m not a honey fan and it didn’t bother me at all. It’s dubbed as both a healer and something that can help protect from the elements so I think I will likely use this most when I know I will be outdoors in the cold which let’s face it will be sooner than we’d like.
So that’s everything I’ve been trying out this week. with winter approaching I’m inundated with skincare to try.. I wish I had more faces I really do. Let me know if you’re happy with these first impressions with a view to following up if my opinions change drastically ie: something becomes an absolute staple or has to be trashed etc. It’s the only way I can feasibly show you everything I want to while they’re still new and exciting. I may make this a weekly post!
