The Body Shop Damson In Distress

IMG_3511I recently made a little Body Shop order – they have a huge sale on PLUS an extra 50% off with code 14671 – and along with the skincare bits I’d been lusting after I picked up a couple of makeup items. People are always raving about TBS but I have tried so little.. I thought it was about time I reviewed some stuff so naturally I immediately went for a lipstick.. I think I could write this blog on lips and nails alone quite happily. I’ve heard good things about their Colour Crush lipsticks and the packaging is pretty, I chose Damson In Distress because 1. it was seasonal and 2. in the sea of colour swatches the bold purple stood out to me.

IMG_3506IMG_3512The colour is beautiful in person, much more purple than most of the other berry tones I have in my collection so I was happy (since I also purchased 2 other, similar colours from Superdrug around the same time) that I wasn’t just duplicating something I already had. The formula is creamy and comfortable to wear but it definitely picked up the not so perfect lip surface I was dealing with. Bare in mind that prior to applying this I used a lip scrub (and I NEVER do this before swatching) and a balm I was really unhappy with the close ups I got. It looks nice from a distance but it’s that odd mix of sheer/opaque which clings to everything it shouldn’t and gives a less than sharp edge around the lip line. Much as I want to love it I’m not sold. The packaging is lovely and given that I got 50% off I’m happy with my purchase but for £10 each I think they (and most things from The Body Shop while we’re on the subject) are overpriced. I know I can find something for less I’d like more so I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend these but if you can get a good deal and you lips are in tip top condition (tough at this time of year) then they’re quite nice.

This ‘meh’ review was brought to you out of my own pocket – you can purchase your own online here

This is a gorgeous autumnal colour. Thanks for sharing the discount code 🙂

I love this colour. I am seeing so many beautiful deep purple berry tones around but I would only be brave enough to wear them at night. This one looks daytime appropriate though and moisturising. I do agree the price is quite high.

I actually bought 3 of their color crush lipsticks a few months back, and I am in LOVE with them ! I have cracked lips and they don’t accentuate mine. i have the matte shades of pink, pink-coral, and deep burgundy (theyre quite shiny though still). I recommend the burgundy shade , called hot date! Great for fall 🙂
