I have to say, of all the brands I thought would jump in the hair chalk band wagon in 2014 The Body Shop wasn’t one of them. I know they like to keep it fresh but I still considered them to be a little traditional.. lets say classic rather than modern and I just didn’t expect it. I’m not sure that there’s any difference in effectiveness of one chalk next to another as they’re basically re-purposed eyeshadow in my opinion but these are no worse than those I’ve tried from hair-specific brands so that’s something. There are just 2 colours but if you’re just looking to dabble with the trend I think pink and blue are fairly standard and I can confirm that you can blend them together to create a nice purple hue too. As opposed to the many semi permanent tints that are now available and very popular chalks are a way for brunettes to get in on the crazy coloured action without reaching for the bleach and I’d definitely suggest you give them ago, lots of fun for grown ups and kids alike – see end of post!
They have also launched 2 new shimmer cubes and lip glosses (though I’m certain these aren’t new) with their Spring Trend collection and can you believe I’d never tried Body Shop eyeshadows before these? I know! These cube things have been around since the dawn of time.. where have I been? If you’ve never seen one up close and personal either you may be as shocked as me to learn that each of the cubes within the palette are in their own acrylic shell with a little lid.. so difficult to describe and I’m now wishing I took a photo but basically if you have more than one you can pop them in and out of the quad to customise the palette or just take one. I still can’t believe I didn’t know about this!
If this is not normal please let me know.. I have no idea if this has always been the format or if they’ve just launched them like this but it’s such a cool idea and I may have tried them sooner had I know as I love custom anything!
I’ll leave you with this baby smurf picture I snapped of Milo in the bath after getting hold of the blue hair chalk.. don’t try this at home, kids!
