The Changing Room

IMG_7719

Since we usually shop as a family (Meadowhall is a regular day out for us) it’s very rare that I actually get to take the time to try anything on. I can’t very well have the whole clan sitting outside waiting for me, can I? Well today my Mum took Milo and Ella was with her Dad so Lee and I had the day to spend as we wish and I had all the time in the world to try as many things on as I liked. I limited it to just one shop because in truth I hate trying things on but I was determined to try on more than one thing and hopefully find something to wear to an even this week in the process.

Knowing that I would be spending some time in the changing room today I took along my camera with this post in mind. I didn’t BUY everything you see here but I thought it might be useful for some of you to see them ON so here goes..

IMG_7717My shopping outfit – See the outfit post on this here

IMG_7724

Crepe Tee Shift Dress – £45.00 – Comes in a few colours but this was my favourite.

I had such high hopes for this, I saw it on a girl walking round and had to track it down and try it on but it just looked all wrong on me. The girl in question was very slim and I think that’s the key to these shapeless dresses, they look like they’d be great to hide your wobbly bits but in reality to look good in them you have to have non – #fail

Formal Stepped Hem Tunic – £38.00 – Also available in white

This was a really similar shape but it was short in the front and longer (almost pleated) in the back, it was kind of like half a dress, half a top.. quite unusual. It was nice but I felt like the neckline and shape was a little boxy for me.. as you’ll find is a bit of a theme in the items I picked out.

Short Sleeve Tee Blouse – £35.00

Do I even need to say it? Boxy! I don’t know what I was thinking when I picked up these three.. I guess I was trying something different but in my opinion it doesn’t work for me, this high necked, short sleeved shape is not great.

Strappy Cami – £18.00 / Geo Print Joggers – £35.00

I can see some of you screaming at your screens now but this combo was a winner for me. I LOVE the trousers, super comfy but I did get a size smaller than I’m wearing here cause I bought jeans size where as these have a lot more give. They feel like PJ’s but will totally snazz up a daytime look and with a pair of heels they will be perfect for a night out! The Cami is a big contrast and I did end up picking up a mint colour as well in case I decide to play it safe but I’m loving this tucked in.. so dressy yet SOOO comfortable.. how have a never tried these baggy pants before??

IMG_7733Jamie Jeans – £15.00 – They’re in the sale and fit amazingly!

I didn’t get these purely because of the colour. I decided I wouldn’t wear them but Jamie jeans in general are gorgeous if you have a muffin top to hide. They’re a little high waisted and for all you shorties out there sick of turning up your trousers legs these are ankle grazers which makes for the perfect length! Last note, someone once told me she couldn’t wear white jeans because you could see cellulite through them, I laughed of course but little did I know she was right… how is that possible?????

Although I love love love the comfy joggers I think the show stealer here is the cami. I have heard such rave reviews from other bloggers and YouTubers about them but £18.00 is a lot for a basic vest, I generally avoid Topshop because I find everything to be waaay overpriced but providing the two I bought (this neon orange and the pastel mint I mentioned) wash well I think I will be going back for more. They come is plenty of colours and are so flattering. I just need to find the perfect strapless bra now.

While we were out shopping we stopped at the new Ed’s Diner, very cool and retro! I am currently counting calories (I might post on that soon) so I played it safe with a bowl of chilli and a diet coke but they have all American milkshakes, burgers, hotdogs and chilli cheese fries all of which look delicious. We actually stopped by another Ed’s a couple of weeks ago knowing we were getting one near us and I can confirm that the loaded fries are amazing.

IMG_7736We arrived at my Mums to find a very sleepy Milo and two very tired Grandparents. It’s lovely to get a day to ourselves sometimes and you always appreciate the kids more when you haven’t had to leave House of Fraser in disgrace after one of them has made an almighty scene in the Beauty Hall!

I really like the joggers, just wish I was brave enough to wear them, but at 5’2 and a size 12/14 I don’t think I could carry them off 🙁 x

So funny that you went to Ed’s dinner, we have it in Ireland it’s called Eddie Rockets and has been around for years. If you like chilli and aren’t counting calories ( which I would love it hear about) get the chilli burger amazing with a malt shake.
