The Dilemma & The Chair

My new chair finally arrived and I love it but it's brought a whole host of new problems along with it. For one it's HUGE! It kind of dwarfs the room and having lived without it for the first few weeks in the new place it all looks really odd now. I liked our streamlined living space but we definitely needed the extra seating so it was never going to last forever regardless.. it will just take some adjusting. The dining area (not pictured, I'll get to that in another post) now looks al wrong so that will need looking at soon but my top priority right now is integrating the chair in to the 'living area'

Because of the height difference between the chair and the sofa it looks best (to me) at an angle as it doesn't leave such a stark gap between the two but my husband thinks a tall lamp might fix that.. we'll see, I think maybe a big, leafy plant would do it. He likes those nautical spotlight styles but I'm not sure they quite 'go', in the meantime I've popped a lamp we already had on the side table that was there which looks okay but the angle is throwing the table all off.. I think a round table may be in order. The one we have is only a cheap one from Ikea, I love the Lack range and have many of them scattered around the house in different shapes and sizes but I don't think I can make it work there anymore. I'm considering something other than white since it will be small and it would be nice to introduce something a bit different.. a happy medium might be the marble topped metal framed one from Next (number 6 below) but we need to decide on the metal theme for the room first. Lee is quite liking the idea of a copper/rose gold light fitting - like this one - but I worry it might be a little too 'of the moment' .. something that will look super dated in a short period of time. One thing I did pick up today to try and help integrate the chair with the pale grey colour scheme I already have was this chunky chenile throw from Next.. so soft and warm and only £25.. I might have to go back for another! Anyway, here are some of the tables I've been looking at..

A mix from Made, Ikea and Next.. I just don't know quite what I want for the space.. which is your favourite?

For those wondering I had the chair made at Next, it's a Sherlock button back snuggle seat in charcoal velvet and it arrived 4 weeks earlier than they quoted so I am a very happy bunny sitting in my new 'throne' as I type this. I know velvet isn't the smartest choice for a home with kids (or accident prone mothers for that matter) but I was assured it's more hard wearing than traditional velvets and I took out accident cover which protects me against all manner of ridiculous things so if I ever have to use it I will absolutely review that service! Oh and although it's a 'snuggle' I'm not sharing..
