The New Infallible Lip

IMG_1003After acquiring some of the old Infallible lipsticks from Cosmetic Fairy (just 99p here) and loving them I was disappointed to hear they’d been discontinued. What they’ve been replaced with is such an old school concept but I want to give them a go more to review than anything else. I actually managed to snag these two in my first You Beauty box (watch the video on that here, subscribe here) so I don’t mind so much that I don’t love them because I paid considerably less than the RRP but had I paid £10 for each of them I’d have been massively disappointed.

I initially swatched them on my hand and was super impressed, they seemed to be stuck there and even after scrubbing they didn’t budge for days and days. Unfortunately that doesn’t translate well to the lips, the outside line is pretty indelible but the inner lip area wears away quickly and the product generally feels dry and uncomfortable. I don’t know why they’d replace something that used to work (the lipstick) with something that just isn’t as good. I’m sure I can’t be the only one that feels this way.

It’s a 2 part system so the liquid lipstick goes on first and the balm on the other end helps keep it looking glossy and hydrated – in theory. In reality this formula is actually a worse version of the Max Factor Lipfinity I’ve had for more than 10 years. The concept is the same and that’s not without it’s faults but at least it stays put.. this will NEED touching up and the thing I hate most is that you would have to be super vigilant and checking the mirror every 5 minutes to make sure it hasn’t worn away and doesn’t look ridiculous.

Available online here priced £9.99 each, the shades I have are Flawless Fuchsia and Timeless Rose

Have any of you tried this? What did you think?

I got the two of them in my You Beauty Discovery box too… and I feel exactly the same way you do about them! So relieved I didn’t pay full price! :O I kept thinking I was applying them wrong or something… but nope, it’s not just me!

I’m glad I’m not alone, i thought I must have been applying them wrong too. The first time I wore it it was fine and worked really well but since then they’ve been awful, you end up with a bright lip line and nothing on your lips after its creased and flaked off!

Flawless fushia is such an amazing shade. They are so pigmented and intense form the swatches but its a shame that they don’t last long on the lips and doesn’t seem like a great product. I love the Max factor lipfinity shades~! I guess its a better alternative than this one since it is discontinued.

Thanks for sharing, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Long wearing lipsticks of this kind are such a tricky product to get right in my opinion. I say this because I’ve tried so many and encountered exactly the same problems you experienced here with the new L’Oreal Infallible Lipsticks. These kinds of products tend to be drying and the way that they often wear away in the centre of the lips can make you look somewhat ridiculous. And what’s possibly even worse is that if you tried to reapply the product, it always ends up looking like a gloopy, flaky and uneven mess as it seems you need to wipe the whole thing off and start again from a blank canvas. Nightmare! Gimmie a normal lippie any day over these! 🙂 xx

I saw them in Boots but I didn’t bother trying them. These long wearing things always feel terrible on the lips. I’d rather have something that only stays on for a couple hours but at least feels nice while its there and wears off evenly.

I swatched one of these in Boots a while ago and was really impressed with how long it stayed on my hand after, but I never got round to picking one up – now I’m glad I haven’t! xx

I saw them in boots and I got the red one because I actually like the maxfactor ones. But I don’t like it, I wish I didn’t waste my money.
