They're Real Lash PRIMER

IMG_6657It's a late one today but it brings us back to my new 'blog when I want to blog' attitude and right now I wanted to talk about MASCARA! Well kind of, it's a lash primer which historically has been an awful thick white thing that you could never really cover with a black mascara and just looked all round awful but this new one from Benefit aint half bad!

IMG_6650I haven't been massively into the recent Benefit launches and when this first arrived I didn't think I'd love it.. I actually only just picked it up to use it this week and I think I got it around a month ago.. nothing about it made me excited to try it but that's exactly why I felt compelled to tell you about it now. The cynic in me said it's just another upsell product for the counters and even when I was applying it I though, it's just another mascara they're telling you to layer under the other one but I do think there's merit to it. It works in a few different ways.

IMG_6658First, it's a light mascara, they're calling it a tinted primer but it can definitely be worn alone. It's a deep brown colour which along with the less intense formula gives you a softer look for every day. I love it for my no-makeup days, if I do NOTHING else a bit of mascara makes the world of difference! Second, it does (in theory) act as a primer for the original They're Real mascara. It boosts it a bit when layered underneath but you can build up both this AND They're Real independently so much as this is supposed to be it's main use it's not my favourite. Third, (best for last here, folks) it's a MILLION times easier to remove than They're real AND when worn underneath your favourite budgeproof mascara it makes the whole lot easier to take off at the end of the day! I've tried it under the Benefit original and other waterproof/longwearing formula's I usually have trouble with and it really does make a difference!!

IMG_6651Do you NEED this product? Probably not but if you're in the market for a new lighter weight mascara and like the original They're Real Brush I think you'll like this. It serves a couple of purposes which might appeal to you but let's be clear.. it IS another mascara. It feels and looks softer while giving nice length and lift which I've never really found in another mascara so I really do like it but I think Benefit have made a bit of a faux pas in marketing it as a primer. To suggest that They're Real needs its ante upping is to suggest that it's perhaps not the be all and end all of false-lash-looking-amazingness they always said it was. I always liked it personally but never used it because it was such a pain to remove.. the real benefit (pun intended) from this to its predacessor is that it makes it easier to remove.. otherwise it's just another, totally individual product that you may or may not need but that I like very much.

The primer isn't actually available to buy until next year (WHAT?!?) however you can pick up a travel size version with this months issue of Elle.. I'd highly suggest you give this a go while you have the chance.. one of those products I think you'll either absolutely love or find no use for whatsoever!
