I really wasn’t sure whether I’d like these when they arrived from cloggs.co.uk but y’know.. I really do! I instagrammed a picture which is always fun when you have something a little unusual and the comments were hilariously divided. Nobody was on the fence they are very much a love/hate style of shoe but I think you have to see them in context to really judge..
They rubbed a little the first wear (normal for trainers) but overall they’re really comfy. I’d recommend potentially sizing down as I did find them a little big but then I don’t wear socks.. a thicker (trainer style) pair might solve that. The thicker sole is something I’ll have to get used to too, it’s fine while walking but if I have to crouch to sort out the kids or pick something up they don’t bend that well.. those of you who’ve tried Vans and other such similar styles.. does the sole soften with time? Not a major issue but a general wondering. Lastly something that might not be picked up in the photos – the fabric is not just print but hairy in texture.. so bizarre but adds to the quirky look and having seen A LOT of similar pairs from different brands I think it makes them look more expensive. They’re closer to the originals by Celine – see here – than the printed versions.. what do you think?
There was a time when I wouldn’t have been caught dead in Converse, I was loyal to my ballet flats and these would have repulsed me but now I love the marriage of style (pattern) and comfort. It just works with my very casual style, they add a little spunk to what would have been nothing to blog about otherwise and I think I’ll get a lot of wear from them once the khaki/deep red colours come out in September.. They could just edge out my Converse this Autumn!
