Top 5 Under £5

I see this kind of thing in magazines all the time but they’re usually 20 under £20 or even higher if we’re talking fashion/gifts etc. I wanted to do a series of my own and thought I’d start with a super budget 5 under £5. It’s easy for me to find products to talk about in the price range but I really just wanted to give you my top picks so here are my 5. It actually turned out to be a really great time to do this post since most of the itmes are on some kind of offer right now so if you’re quick you grab a good budget product at an even better price than usual!

Miners Bronzer/Blusher Blend in Sunblushed £4.99

I’ve talked and talked about this and I’m sure lots of you are sick of me banging on about how great Miners are when they’re not readily available in stores but there are some things from them that I just cannot recommend enough. This is one of my most used products, I’ve had it for 2 years and have only just hit pan. It’s basically a dupe for a MAC MSF for a fraction of the price. There are 2 shades available, the one I have is more subtle and can be used as a highlight even on paler skins (like mine).. the other has more colour and would be more of a blush. I just cannot express enough love for this and although it’s not as easy to get your hands on it’s absolutely worth ordering it online. If you don’t want to pay delivery just for one thing I would also give honourable mention to their Matte Factors (peach in particular) which would also have featured in this post but I wanted to spread a little love to other brands too.

MUA Undressed Palette £4.00

Not that long ago I reviewed this palette, you can watch that video here. Undressed is basically the drugstores answer to The Naked Palette by Urban Decay, I’ve never seen a closer dupe by any other brand, drugstore or not and for £4 the quality is incredible. I swatched it in order alongside the UD equivalent (you can see that post here) and although there are a few differences it’s very close and really if you’re not willing to shell out for the ‘real thing’ this is absolutely your best alternative if you want the same shade range. I still love my Naked and would never be without it, the quality is just too good and Urban Decay have almost ruined me for any other eyeshadow brand but if you just don’t have the budget or you can’t justify the cost I would 100% recommend the Undress.. use a primer to get the best from it though!

Soap & Glory Smoulder Khol Waterproof Eyeliner £5

When I first bought this I was absolutely head over heels with the formula.. it’s an almost perfect dupe for the Urban Decay 24/7 Liners that I love but that are now out of my price range. I still think that it’s very very similar but I have to admit it’s just not quite as good. That’s to be expected of course given that it’s almost a third of the cost but it has to be mentioned.. the Urban Decay liner is still better but it’s not superior enough to push me to pay £8 more. I haven’t tried a lot from the Soap & Glory cosmetics range but what I have I’ve been happy with – apart from the mascara but if you know me.. that’s no surprise – plus it was a magazine freebie so it barely counts. This liner is creamy, extremely black and lovely to apply but it’s khol and I just can’t accept it as a ‘waterproof’ liner. It doesn’t set well on me and I do see some smudging as the day goes on but it’s still the best I’ve tried from the drugstore that’s why it’s in my top 5.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad To The Bronze £4.99

I really don’t use these enough, it’s one of those things.. you pick something up when it’s new and there’s lots of buzz, use it for a month and then it gets lost in a drawer somewhere. I have used this on and off since I bought it in March and although at first I believed it to be crease proof and a suitable eyeshadow base I now know that to be incorrect.. on me anyway. I think that’s why I stopped using it but I picked it up again recently and although it’s not quite as quick and easy when you have to apply primer before hand it’s still a gorgeous colour and it does stay put all day.. with a primer! I personally prefer these to the MAC paint pots I have and for the price I think everyone needs one. The bronze shade is my favourite and I believe would be universally flattering but I also really like the taupe!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Light £4.19

Lastly.. how could I not mention this? I’m not someone that hears a lot of good reviews and has to have something.. in fact generally the more people tell me I need something the longer it takes me to get it and that was true of this. It’s a blogger staple and I know of only one YouTuber that I watch to have given a bad review. It’s not for everyone and in my opinion it’s not as full coverage as lots of bloggers make out but I guess that’s relative to what you’re trying to cover up. I like it because it doesn’t crease but stays put all day. It’s liquid so not too cakey and is yellow toned so great for redness but not quite as effective at covering my dark circles.. And that’s mainly what I bought it for. That being said I always come back to it, no matter what else I dip in and out of this is a staple and I wouldn’t be without it. NOTE: LauraLovesBeautyX uses a darker shade for her under eyes and believes it to work as more of a colour corrector.. have any of you tried that? I think I’ll be picking up a darker shade to see for myself soon.

Thanks for the tip about the MUA Palette being a dupe for the Naked Palette. I popped out earlier to buy one for my Mum because I think she’ll love it x
