Topshop Brighton Rock

Can you even believe this is my first Topshop lipstick? I know, me either. It’s another example of blogger hyper working totally against a product for me. If I hear everyone and their wife say something is great I don’t want it, I’m all about the underdog and have no interest in reviewing something for you guys that you already ‘know’ is great I want to find something different. So that’s why it took me so long to succumb but last week when I was treating myself to a spot of retail therapy I decided to bit the bullet (pun intended) an Brighton Rock was what jumped out as most ‘me’.

It’s a matte finish but it doesn’t LOOK too matte on the lips which is great cause I hate that bitty dry lips look and this is more satin on me. The formula is quite dry however upon application, that’s what you expect from a matte lipstick though and as a result it does adhere and last longer so I don’t mind that it’s not super creamy and smooth. Packaging wise.. hmm perhaps another reason I’ve not picked one of these up already. I don’t know what it is but it’s not a cheap makeup line and I feel like it looks a little like it is.. not sure if I’m alone in that but the nail polish especially is not very special looking and much as I like some of the colours I just think they don’t look like £5(or£6 in some cases) polishes.. Barry M is under £3 and it doesn’t look any less expensive in my opinion. But that’s just my general gripe with Topshop prices I think.. everything is a little more than I’d like it to be and it takes several moons aligning for me to actually buy something – thinking about it I’ve splashed out there a few times in the past 2 weeks.. something strange is going on.

Excuse my face, I’d been heavily rained on about 10 minutes prior.. what’s with this weather? I mean the heat was driving me mad but this humid monsoon might be worse.

Available online here for £8.00

Looks lovely on you! I always think Topshop Makeup is expensive for what is essentially an own brand. Have you tried their pencil eyeliner? So creamy and soft xx

Topshop is a bit of a pisstake anyway. They make their clothes in factories in bangladesh just like primark and asda but they charge waaay more. Its just not cool.

I’ve always wanted to try this colour! It looks so nice on you, you might have just convinced me that it needs to be in my stash. I agree that the packaging looks quite cheap, but to be honest I do quite like the feel of the tubes and quite like the white and black stripes! 🙂

Shame the packaging ruins this, as this honestly looks like a YSL or Dior colour. Such a stunning colour on you, I could never pull this off!

I’m the same way with books – if everyone is reading a certain book and keep saying I should read it I don’t want to read it.

That is a great colour lipstick – I only have one Topshop product but that is a nail varnish

I remember when Topshop first brought out the makeup line and I was so skeptical! But some of their stuff is really good, this one I’ve heard so many good things about 🙂
