Volume Million So Couture

IMG_2578I just can’t make my mind up about this mascara. I love everything from the Volume Million range but this is a little too close to a mascara I’m REALLY not a fan of for my liking, Maybelline Rocket – read my review of that here. I never relly understood that and this is much the same.. the bristles are so tiny and in some parts almost non existent so although it coats my lashes and the formula is thick so I get the volume I definitely don’t get a million lashes. In fact there’s almost no separation at all. The only difference between that and the Maybelline (for those wondering Covergirl Lash Blast has that same wand too) is that you do get slightly longer bristles toward the base of the wand so I can see SOME logic to the design as it gives a bit of a cat eye effect. The lashes are more separated and lengthened towards the outer corner BUT as you can see from the before and after photos that means the center lashes look clumpy, the inner lashes have just a little definition and the outer ones look okay.

IMG_2575IMG_2543IMG_2544I’ve said it before (probably every time I review a mascara actually) but it’s such a personal choice, like skincare or foundation one size does not fit all so while this is not my favourite it may well be yours. Don’t get me wrong it’s not the worst and unlike the others I compared it to I am still persevering and using this one as I so want to love it but I just don’t love the brush as much as some others.. the original (Maybe the Excess) is the best and the one I’s recommend if you’re thinking of trying one from the Volume Million range.

One last note on this.. has anyone else noticed the smell? I thought it was chocolate but I mentioned it in a video and someone else said Cocoa Butter and I think they might be dead on. Whether it’s supposed to condition your lashes or they’ve just put in the scent I have no idea but it’s something worth noting if you have sensitive eyes because I don’t and even mine watered a little.. not a great feature, L’Oreal!

I really like L’Oreal make-up but when I saw the brush to this it looks like abit of a let down, and I have sensitive eyes so I’m glad I read this review incase the scent caused me any issues x

I tend to stick to Maybelline mascaras for drugstores and have never tried this brand. Thanks for the review!

I manage to get plenty of separation with the brush. I don’t do the wiggling thing because it makes my lashes move over to one side, I just comb through them. I go over them a heap of times though because I like to have properly massive lashes and I always get mascara on my eyelids and have to get the cotton buds out.
