When 10pm / MONTH IN MASKS

IMG_8686

I had never heard of When prior to receiving a couple of their sheet masks a few months ago and even since I haven’t seen them pop up in my feed so I’d be interested to know if any of you guys have. The range is categorised in to times that you may want to use each mask, e.g. 10pm, Travel Mate, Glamour Base. I think this was part of the reason I never reached for them, the conformist in me felt like they HAD to be used at those times and it never seemed convenient. I don’t usually like to use a face mask just before bed and I NEVER use one before I do my makeup (but we’ll talk more about that when I review the Glamour Base) but since I was doing this series I asked myself if not now, WHEN?

IMG_8689I assumed When masks would be the same as every other paper sheet mask I’d used and had no idea what to do with the more complex product I pulled out of the packaging. It’s a bio cellulose mask which feels like a thin sheet of jelly that clings to your face in a totally different way to the paper versions. It comes sandwiched between two other plastic sheets which makes for an interesting first application but after another go I think I have it down.

First impressions were favourable, I WAY preferred the feel of the mask on my skin, so cool and refreshing. I wore it for 20 minutes by which time I started to feel the edges dry out a little but the bulk of the mask still had a smooth, gel texture. I really felt like my skin absorbed more of the product than with a traditional paper mask and I didn’t wait 48hrs before using another. I might be hooked. This wasn’t my favourite of the two so far but my skin definitely felt more hydrated and in the morning I think it looked plumper and less ’30 year old mother of 2′.. but maybe that’s just wishful thinking. This particular mask contains watermelon extract and collagen but ALL When masks contain hyaluronic acid which I believe is to thank for the hit of moisture I’ve experienced. I’m now on a mission to find more bio cellulose masks so any suggestions, I’m all ears!

StarSkin do bio cellulose masks which are amazing but pricey. Think they’re on ASOS and Beauty Bay x
