As if you didn’t already know why blogs were so great.. I have to share with you a little story of my weeks obsessions and how they all tied in to an awesome deal! I have been watching Ingrid from MissGlamorazzi forever and I’ve heard her and her friends rave about an online jewellery store called Bauble Bar for as long as I can remember. When Ingrid because one of their ‘Guest Bar Tenders’ in the summer and put together her favourites from the brand I wanted to be able to shop there more than ever but alas.. US only. Fast forward 6 months and I happen to be on instagram when one of my favourite UK bloggers – whitebazaar – instagrammed a picture of her recent Bauble Bar haul.. I was back on the site in a flash only to discover that they do now ship to our little Isle.. yay!!
Their prices are really reasonable and there were a handful of beautiful necklaces I wanted as well as ALL of their custom/monogrammed items so there I was throwing things in my basket when I realised.. I will be over there in the next month.. can I visit a store? Turns out they do have an HQ in NYC however shopping is on an appointment only basis and that’s a little too much pressure for me. I decided to email them for more info and leave my shopping basket on the back burner. Later that day I was reading the comments on my Glossybox video and so many of you were suggesting I try Birchbox instead so I found myself cancelling my GB subscription (I’d planned to do this anyway but needed a little push) and signing up to this new service. I ALWAYS look for coupon codes when buying online and found a code BBXBauble which said that the first 1000 people using it would received a free gift.. not a discount but better than nothing so I used it. Turns out that said free gift is a small bracelet from..BAUBLE BAR! Better still I signed up in time for Decembers box which is every other review is to be believed contains a $20 gift voucher for the online store.. stars aligning or what?
Well given that I’m now waiting on this voucher I have been browsing blogs for reviews and styling ideas before I go ahead with my order when I stumble upon Courtney Kerr, Now I haven’t Wiki’d her yet but I think she’s a celebrity in the states and it seems that she also has tended bar and Bauble. So I lost a good couple of hours to her blog (which is awesome, by the way) and saw this dress. Given than Courtney seems to be a bit of a showbiz personality and lives in a different country I was assuming it would be 1. Mega expensive and 2. Unobtainable.. couldn’t have been further from the truth. Not only is it from ASOS but it’s on super sale and STILL AVAILABLE! Granted it’s only in stock in a tiny size but given the style I think it could still work so I bought it and will just keep my fingers crossed. I would never have looked at that on the site and liked it but seeing it on someone I just had to have it. The khaki colour looks a muddy brows online but on Courtney the green really pops.
So you see.. What my husband may consider to have been an obsessive jewellery week all started with a little instagram about jewellery ended with an amazing deal on a dress, a new beauty box and a voucher on it’s way. Social media and blogs are far more likely to push me to purchase than any magazine or TV ad because real people with real opinions sell. I thought I would share my little shopping story with you all, look out for some major haulage coming soon 😉
