You Beauty Discovery Box

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI realised that although I do monthly unboxings of the beauty subscriptions I have I very rarely share them on my blog and this particular service is very budget friendly. It’s the cheapest that I’m aware of and it has the perfect balance of products you know you want vs surprises too! Each month (on the 1st) the new menu goes up and you choose 2 things you want and are sent a minimum of 2 others from that list at random. If you’re in to getting your moneys worth and never coveting someone elses selection THIS is the box for you! Some months menus are better than others.. this is definitely one of the not so great months but previously I’ve had 2 full sized lip products in a box which more than paid for the £6.95 subscription fee. This month I chose the Tresemme shot (which I’ve already tried and isn’t ‘all that’ but I thought would be useful to have for our next holiday) and the DHC Cleansing Oil which I’ve heard A LOT about and am very excited to try.. but again am wondering whether I should keep it for our trip.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERANot really interested in the sachet of Dove Hair BB Cream but I guess it’s nice to have and almost certainly wont drink the herbal teas (not a fan) BUT from what I can gauge online the two items I chose would have totaled near the cost of the box so.. no biggie!  If you’re super bothered about wasting your money then ultimately beauty box subscriptions aren’t for you, unless you can choose from a huge selection and know for a fact you’re getting things you really want to try then it’s all a bit of a gamble. I always preferred the surprise of say Glossybox/Birchbox over the services like LoveMeBeauty which gives you options so you knew up front what you’d receive but this is a great balance for me at a good price and since I recently cancelled all other subscriptions that’s what’s keeping me interested in this. I’m a big fan of My Little Box (although this month was also pants) however you can’t really beat £6.95 – INCLUDING P&P by the way – so for everyone who’s asked recently, I think this is the one I’d recommend, gun to my head. That being said I could change my mind completely in February.. but isn’t that the fun of it all?

I thought the YBD box was crap this month too.. I got their advent calendar and that was amazing though so I might keep subscribing for a few months then ditch it if it carries on being crap.

I have been umming and ahhing about trying a box subscription for months, and I’m still not sure! I think I would rarely use all products but at the same time I want to seek out and discover new products.

I haven’t subscribed to any boxes as of yet as I really can’t decide whether I’d prefer the surprise or getting a bit of a choice.

Gemma (gemsmaquillage) mentioned the LoveMeBeauty box and I’m quite intrigued by it.

I will def try this out! I always wanted to try out that DHC oil! 🙂
May I ask you, since you seem to have tried out a fair share of budget beauty brands: I was yesterday in superdrug looking out for a budget ‘essential’ basics make up products to get me started and I’d love to know which brands they stoke you think are best? I heard a lot about Bourjois being amongst the best they stock – what do you think? (I try not to use much in my face as I had quite problematic skin in the past, although it’s now starting to be more controlled, so thought of trying more things out lately, but if you can recommend some brands without too many additives that would be great too!)

Just went on to My Little Box as I’ve been eyeing it up for a while and your final recommendation swayed me, however the price is now £11 plus £3.95 p&p, just FYI to anyone interested. X
