5 Ideas For Valentines Day
Since it's just around the corner I thought I'd put together some suggestions for gifts/experiences to share with you loved one(s)1. A Night AwayIt's an oldie but a goodie and something my husband and I are making more time for this year. Whether you have kids or not, a night away from the day to day is often just what you need to remember that those arguments about the washing up are not really as important as they seem in the moment. If you do have kids then I really don't need to lecture you on the importance of child free time, do I? For you Yorkshire folk, we recently stayed at Ye Olde Bell (and spa - see post here) and the bedrooms are ricidulously luxurious. Very traditional but very romantic and the food was out of thie world. We also often browse Secret Escapes for last minute deals on what would otherwise be pretty pricey hotel stays.
2. Spa DaySince we touched on it anyway I thought I'd throw it in there. We visited our first ever spa in December and we promptly returned for our anniversary the following month. My husband was nervous ahead of time that he'd be the only man there but we've seen lots of couples and it's a really nice day together. Because there's water involved you can't be constantly looking at your phone and it forces you to spend QUALITY time! I can't recommend it enough - plus you can drink while you're in there ;)
3. His & Hers RobesI swear this isn't just one long continuation of a theme, I actually had this one on my list before the first two. Whenever we're in a hotel the first thing we do is take a shower and slip on the bathrobes. There's little more plush feeling than a hotel robe and slippers and nothing that makes me feel quite so cosy and relaxed so why not bring them home with you? Not literally of course (although some hotels do give that option) but you can order hotel-style waffle weave robes from multiple places online - here's one - and I think Mr & Mrs ones are just about the cutest gift you could buy for each other. Perfect if you're on a budget and want to bring the decadant hotel vibes to you without the decadent hotel price tag.
4. Forever FlowersOn the complete other end of the spectrum, this is not a cheap gift - although you can buy a single rose which is very sweet and more affordable. It is totally on my wishlist (white, if my husband is reading this) and something that I'd never buy for myself. My husband complains that I'm impossible to buy for (he's not wrong) and consumables (like flowers and chocolates) are usually a safe bet with someone like me but these flowers are a step up from your regular bouquet. They last forEVER, I mean not really but a long time and having seen reviews I just love the idea of constantly having fresh flowers on display in my home. The gift for the woman (or man) who has everything.
5. Anything PersonalisedI know this is broad but if you know me but at all you know that I love a monogrammed anything. There are so many brands that offer personalisation these days that you don't really have to spend a lot to gift something a little more thoughtful than your average and take it from me, even a gift I didn't want would have a new appeal with my initials engraved on it!
