5 Things To Watch On Netflix

5 Things to watch on netflixIf you watch me on YouTube you will know I'm a HUGE advocate of Netflix. I joined around 3 years ago and am nearing the stage where I could very almost do without a regular TV package.. and save myself a small fortune in Sky bills!! For a long time I was using a vpn service to get US content in the UK so I didn't feel I could recommend shows as many of them were not available on the UK service but recently I switched back (only temporarily mind.. the US service has WAY more stuff) and I thought I'd share some of my top picks that are available here in my native land.

White Collar

One of the first shows we ever found on Netflix, the only annoying thing about it is they're taking FOREVER to add new series.. we swallowed up the first few in a matter of weeks. General gist: a criminal is helping the detective who put him away to solve crimes.. I don't want to say too much but you'll be hooked after an episode or two and the leading man isn't awful to look at either ;)

Pretty Little Liars

One I'm sure you'll all have heard of and quite a teen choice but it's my guilty pleasure. Until recently we hadn't had it in the UK for years since it left MTV.. a couple of weeks ago Netflix added all 5 seasons and we are now getting the new episodes the day after they air in the US. SCORE! This is the main reason I switched back as the US version doesn't have the newest episodes yet. In case you don't know the show is about a girl who goes missing and the friends she's left behind. It's a mystery/thriller, easy watching with some light suspense thrown in.

Arrested Development

A cult show that managed 3 seasons before being cancelled and then 10 years later was resurrected by Netflix who commissioned a 4th.. THANKS, NETFLIX! I hear there's a 5th in the works too. To quote the opening titles "this is the story about a wealthy family, who lost everything, and the one son who had no choice but to keep them all together". It's a tough show to describe but the casting is fantastic and if you like The Office, Parks & Rec etc you will like this.

Vampire Diaries

Another teeny choice, I know but this is my latest obsession. Last year we watched all 7 season of True Blood in 6 weeks, I didn't think Lee was quite ready for another vampire romp so I'm powering through this one alone, every chance I get. I'm on season 2 and if you were also a True Blood fan I think you'll like this, it's the PG version but there are a lot of similarities and they're still making it.. so that's a bonus. General gist: 2 brother vampires after one teen girl, high school/fang fun ensues. Not for everyone but I can't lie, I love it.

Episodes

A random find. I know this was on TV a while ago but I never caught it, I pretty much only wanted to see it because it was dubbed Matt Le Blanc's comeback but it's actually pretty good. It's a BBC show set in America, I'm not generally a big UK comedy fan (with a few notable, classic exceptions) but this is a great mix of US/US humour. The idea is that 2 comedy writers come over from the UK to make an American version of their hit show and both the show and their relationship starts to fall apart once they get there. Matt is the star and plays himself - worth a watch!

If you're interested in how I watch US Netflix in the UK you can of course google/YouTube it and find a whole host of info but the clearest explanation for me came from The Doofa. Her YT tutorials are excellent (she's actually a voice actor so no shock that they're nicer to listen to/watch than your average) and if you search her site for your device I'm sure she'll have the info you want. Alternatively you can check out her YouTube channel here. She has been inactive for while but everything's still current as far as you'd need. If you have any show recommendations of your own PLEASE leave them below.. it was tough to narrow this down to 5 so I might do a follow up if you're interested but I'm always looking for something new to watch so comment away!

...now I'm off to watch some more Vampire Diaries in the bath, gotta love technology!
