Dr Jart+ Ceramidin

I have overdone it with the exfoliation recently (par for the course with me - I read an interesting article on exfoliation addiction, recently - I can relate!) and damaged my skin barrier.

This happens from time to time because I use prescription strength skincare (via Skin+Me) and still enjoy the odd scrub or peel type product because I love that squeaky clean, glowy skin - EVEN THOUGH I KNOW IT’S TEMPORARY. I am well versed in dialling back and leaning on tried and tested soothing solutions but I felt like trying something new - and a quick google suggested that this Dr Jart+ Ceramidin was something I should try.

Up to now my favourites have been Pixi’s Ceramide Cream - very light and fast to absorb and La Roche Posay Soothing Repair Balm - which is thicker but works absolute magic on all manner of skin ails. This falls somewhere in between in terms of texture. It’s heavier and leaves a residue but still feels light.

It does have a herbal fragrance, this doesn’t bother me but always baffles me a bit in a product designed for sensitive skin as some find scent to be irritating. I am oily and although not acne prone I do break out from time to time and I didn’t find this to cause any issues using twice daily. It also worked nicely under makeup on those days when my skin is feeling dry (read: flakey) and NOTHING IS WORKING so that was a nice bonus.

I think I’d still choose the Pixi for daily use because it IS lighter and still works nicely to hydrate without irritation, but sometimes you WANT to feel a layer of comfort on your skin and for those days.. this is my winner.

I picked this up as part of a gift set because the mask and mini toner were basically free. I liked the liquid toner, not sure I’d go out of my way to repurchase but it felt nice and cooling. The mask wasn’t particularly well saturated and again, I think the cream does everything I need for a b

They also do a mist version that I’d love to try because can you think of anything better when your skin is stinging than a soothing aerosol spray??
