Five New Things
MAYBELLINE x GIGI HADID WEST COAST COOL PALETTE - £13.99This has been sitting in my 'new products' basket for more than a month and after pulling it out for this post I cannot believe I haven't been using it. The Gigi Hadid collab is PRICEY and I think I was a little put off by that when it arrived but it's actually really nice. It's tough (for someone with basic skills, like me) to get much contrast because the metallic finish is overpowering - I think the pro's refer to this as 'muddy'? Expensive for a metallic shadow, given that I don't think I could achieve many obviously different looks from this little palette but it's a very pretty effect.DANIEL SANDLER WATERCOLOUR BLUSH IN CHERUB - £16.50I treated myself to this among other things) for my birthday recently and was 1. shocked by how tiny it was and 2. shocked by how little I needed. You really do just need a drop to get a flush of colour and so the tiny bottle is actually not that tiny. I had expected it to look more like a wash of colour though and it's far more opaque than that. I've been using a gorgeous gel blush from Elizabeth Arden recently which is what made me decide to finally try this but they are totally different animals. This is more like liquid colour, very easy to blend and relatively long wearing but not quite the sheer Summer blush I was expecting.BOBBI BROWN LONGWEAR WEIGHTLESS FOUNDATION - £31.00I am still on the fence about this and will probably update with a full post at some point since the lovely folks over at Bobbi Brown sent me a vial of each shade to swatch. I was initially excited that it might be a lighter version of EL Double Wear but with the recommended brush I found it to be too dry, with a beauty blender I still didn't love the finish and it was too heavy for me but applied just after a good moisturiser with my finger tips? Just right. Different strokes and all that but that's the only way I've found it to sit on my skin and not look like too much.. though it did still settles in to pores are dryness. It just might not be for me.URBAN DECAY RAVE LIPLINER & BACKTALK LIPSTICK - £14.50/£15.50I am obsessed with Urban Decay lip liners. OBSESSED! In fact I have a post on them coming very soon and once I laid them next to each other I was a tiny bit horrified by how similar they all were!! I've become very into the over drawn neutral lip and this formula is creamy and comfortable while being very long wearing, completely perfect and I often wear it alone. The perfect partner, however, is their Comfort Matte lipstick. Softer than a MAC Retro Matte, you can press your lips together after applying and it doesn't feel powdery or drying and more importantly it makes my lips look smooth and plump rather than dry and papery. All the stars, I picked up Rave & Back Talk because they're basically the same shade and totally replace my old faithful MAC Faux in my new favourite formula.LASH SENSATIONAL CURVITUDE - INTERNATIONAL SELLERI've had this since my NYC trip in November and have been waiting for it to hit UK shelves but so far.. nothing. We've got a liquid liner by the same name but no mascara yet so I thought I'd give it a whirl and we'll circle back if it ever arrives. The brush is odd - I show it in a little more detail in this video if you're interested- and I am actually really in to it. It catches every lash, is thick enough to add volume but didn't seem clumpy. If you ever spot it I'd recommend it but I'm not sure it's worth paying the premium to purchase from an international seller.*I've also just had lash extensions so I'm off mascara for the forseeable
