Hangover Skin

hangover skin cures morning after maskMan! I am suffering today. I got in at 2.30am after a 13hr session with some people from work (post redundancy mass leaving do) and although I dilligently matched every alcoholic drink I had with a glass of water I'm still feeling worse for wear. After a heavy night your first step should always be hydration so again, water, water, water but step two for me is skin care.I'm sure it's more to do with the fact I'm feeling particularly delicate and in need of pampering than anything but when I look in the mirror 'the morning after' and see tired, dull skin I can't wait to scrub, mask and moisturise it back to health. I dragged myself out of bed this morning with the family incentivised by the knowledge I could pop in to Boots and pick up a pick-me-up. Aside from the multiple boxes of ibuprofen I also treated myself to the Glam Glow GravityMud Firming Treatment and ThirstyMud Hydrating Treatment, both of which I'd had my eye on for a while but even the mini sizes are pricey and the only Glam Glow mask I'd tried thus far (the original) had been disappointing. The GravityMud reminded me a lot of the Origins GinZing Peel Off Mask. The metallic colour, the texture and the strong scent - though this one was more suncreamy to me. You apply a thick layer, leave for 20-30 minutes and then peel away, given the size of the tube I decided to use this only under my eyes and I definitely saw an improvement. My fine lines are less obvious and the skin is super smooth, I'm tempted to use it as a full face mask next time but worry that it would take whole tube and at £14 a pop that's an expensive at home treatment!GLAMGLOW GRAVITY MUD REVIEWThe ThirstyMud isn't really mud at all and is the one of the 3 I've tried that I think gives you the best value for money. It's a thin, balmy consistency that spreads easily, meaning you don't need to use much at all. Again my skin felt nice and soft after 20 minutes of wear but it also really seemed to improve the dryness around my nose and in areas still recovering from breakouts.Alongside the masks I wanted to mention the Urban Decay Meltdown Makeup Remover because it's AMAZING. I've spoken about it in a couple of videos  - including the one that went up today - and I really can't get enough of it. In essence it's probably the same as any other makeup remover, it directs you to spray it on to a cotton pad or your hand to apply it to your skin but, I'm sorry.. if you've made a makeup remover spray that thing is going directly on to my face! 2 or 3 pumps, a quick massage and a hot flannel later and it's basically the closest you're going to get to face wipe-type-ease in an actual cleanser. Oil free but feels exactly like a dry oil, blows my mind and cleans my face!Lastly the Wet Skin Moisture Miracle from Sanctuary is basically a fancy version of the many in-shower lotions that hit the market last year. This one isn't to rinse off so you apply either in the shower or immediately afterwards and then pat dry. A really nice way to quickly moisturise after shaving and be sure you're hitting that optimum window before the skin dries completely. The only other one of these I really liked was the Ro's Argan Body Conditioner from Lush.. but this is considerably less expensive, still smells lovely and does the job. Perfect. eIt's 10 to 9 now and my headache is just about subsiding and the KFC I just ate is still in play but my skin is glowing and from the outside you'd never know I'd spent my day trying to not look and feel like death. I really am too old for this shit and should know better 😏
