PS. I Love You!

I'm going to go on record here and say this is the BEST lipstick I own for under £2. That might not sound like a bold statement but I've tried a multitude of super budget brands and these days that price point has stiffer competition than ever. I recently tried a ton of stuff from the new Poundland range (more on that later but you can watch my first impressions video here) which is great but THIS is better. My one bug bear with low priced brands is their shade range it's usually a safe selection of colours they know will sell, a brown nude, a mid tone pink, a pillar box red, etc etc. Much as I don't TRULY believe MAC lipsticks are worth the whopping £15.50 I pay for them it's the colour choice that draws me back in. Quality wise formulas from Revlon and Maybelline are just as good but MAC simply can't be beaten if you're looking for a specific shade.

The texture of this one is not EXCELLENT, it's GOOD but it could be better. It's opaque but a little dry, not quite matte.. it's like it's not quite sure what it wants to be but lots of lipsticks that claim to be matte aren't really. I assume this is because these days people want the finish but they want it to be comfortable to wear, non drying, etc etc. it's tough to meet those needs (the only ones I know of that I feel DO hit that spot are Revlon Matte Balms) so bizarre as this one feels I can understand the hybrid texture. It IS long wearing and the packaging is sleek (and pretty much a copy of Max Factor, no?) AND it was super cheap so as it goes.. no real complaints here but what makes this a real winner is the colour!! It's so unusual, a true taupey, greige nude that I've struggled o find ANYWHERE (EVEN from MAC!) so imagine my surprise when I got this home from good ol' Primarni to find that it ticked that box perfectly. It's not for everyone, I know but it's just so cool and very 'of the moment', if you're in to the cool toned Kylie Jenner lip trend you need this in your life! Well.. in your makeup bag anyway.
