Ready, Set, Glow!

IMG_6604I feel like I say this constantly but skincare is very individual and what works for me wont necessarily work for you, especially when it comes to active ingredients such as glycol. Some people love it, others hate it but I'm very much on the love side of that fence and have raved about lower cost products including this magic ingredient for some time so I'm extra excited to have one to try from a brand a little closer to my heart. I've only had each of these a few days as they're brand new so I can't give you war and peace just yet but keep your eyes peeled for follow ups in upcoming videos. Freedom have launched a capsule skincare collection, the star of which is the Glycolic Glow Toner.. not too much of a stretch so see the Pixi Glow dupe suggestion. You may remember a couple of years ago I did purchase the Pixi tonic after hearing only amazing things and it being super tricky to get hold of. I did like it, it definitely brightened my skin and helped with my areas of pigmentation BUT I then went on to try other, cheaper alternatives and I liked those too.. only I preferred their price point. So far this is how I feel about the Glycolic Glow Tonic. It has a fresh, clean scent to it, it gives me that ever so slightly tingly skin that I like and a brighter complexion. One of the top ingredients is glycol which as I mentioned I very much get a long with but bear that in mind if you don't! It's a chemical exfoliant so you may want to test it on an out of sight, less sensitive area first but I wouldn't be without glycol products now!

IMG_6605Along with the tonic there's also an eye makeup remover which is the most bizarre thing I've ever used. I expected it to be a gel and it's much more liquid, not at all oily and yet it removed my mascara in a snap.. I think I need more time with this one but it's unusual.. you really have to try it to see! Lastly the moisturiser, it smells gorgeous (to me) and is light enough to wear under makeup but heavy enough to leave me feeling hydrated. Again I haven't had enough time with it to rave about results just yet but watch this space.

IMG_6610Lastly I wanted to touch on another product that has been asked and asked about lately, the setting spray. Freedom lauched a few options including a Primer Water recently and having now tried them all I can tell you that for ME they work in very similar ways. The one I was most excited about was the anti-shine version which I've tried under makeup, between my foundation and powder and to set it all. I'd say I prefer it as a primer (but the primer water performs a little better in this way - I'm not sure if it's just in my mind but I'm sure it does) but as a setting spray I feel like I have a slightly shiny film over my face that never looks totally matte. I never looked AS oily but still. With that in mind I wanted to compare it to the Urban Decay DeSlick which I purchased a year or so ago when I was absolutely sick of being oily by midday and ready to spend any amount of money to get it under control. I can see no difference between the two products at all! I came to a similar concusion with the DeSlick, that it didn't really look matte but helped prolong the wear of my foundation however used every day it definitely dried out my skin and that's what I'm finding with this one too. They may aswell be the same product so although from a mattifying perspective they didn't work for me they definitely do something to boost the staying power and if you like the one from Urban Decay chances are you could save a bundle on the Freedom fixing spray. I think I'll stick to the primer water though.. and only on special occasions!

You can currently save £8 on the skincare products when bought as a trio for £10 here or shop the entire range online here - or even at Superdrug (yay, finally!) here, 3 for two on both sites so nows the time if you had your eye on something from the brand!
