Spring Brightening

HOURGLASS DIM LIGHT PALETTE MAYBELLINE BRIGHTENER I have raved and raved about the Maybelline Dark Circle Eraser for years - see my original post, complete with hilarious old school pictures here - but always with the caveat, 'unfortunately it's not available in the UK'..until NOW! I have received so many tweets, comments and emails over the past month after people have spotted the brightening shade of our beloved Age Rewind in stores. I am yet to find one but can see that it is indeed available online and hopefully it's here to stay. I picked up a few light pink brush on 'illuminators' and 'correctors' recently (would you be interested in a comparison?) but nothing even came close so I was considering testing some higher end versions just to find a UK product I could recommend when this turned up.. just in time! I tend to skip concealer, just using a little of the corrector in the inner corners of my eyes and it lifts my darkness without looking heavy.HOURGLASS DIM LIGHT PALETTE MAYBELLINE BRIGHTENER The other (far pricier) glow getter I've been enjoying lately is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light. I picked up a mini version in America last month and in the dry desert weather it added such a beautiful healthy sheen to my (slightly) sunkissed skin that I was instantly hooked. Granted, since I got back to the UK and my oily t-zone kicked in again I'm not quite as spellbound but if you have skin on the drier side it is seriously amazing. I'm realising now why I never totally got the hype the first time around, in fact I discovered that I already have this powder in the original palette gifted to me by my very generous friends a couple of years ago and much as I liked it I didn't have that instant WOW feeling. After falling in love in Vegas I'm still using it but I'm constantly chasing that holiday high.Liberty do apparently sell the mini version for £19 (I thought it was a Sephora special) however it is always out of stock and much as I always said the palette was overpriced I actually would be prepared to pay the £40 for the full size single now, it's really, really pretty and should last you a while.
