The Pink Suede Jacket
Long time readers will know of my love for cash back sites, I use them for any big purchase from handbags to holidays but I’m guilty of forgetting (read: being too lazy) to use them for EVERYTHING I could. For those of you like me who don’t really feel like it’s worth the effort for the little things Santander have created a little calculator to help you work out how much it could all add up to. They recently launched a credit card which gives you cash back on ALL of your purchases from petrol to groceries.. the stuff you can’t necessarily use cash back sites for!
So how does this lead to ‘the pink suede jacket’? WELL.. I used the calculator (try it here, it’s super quick) and worked out that my total cash back would be just under £200 for the year on all the bits and bobs I’m currently not bothering to claim for through other sites - the equivalent of (drum roll) this jacket I’ve been lusting after from Topshop - did you see me instagram it earlier this week? So had I been using the card I would have earned enough cash back to buy it! What could you have bought with yours?
A note about the jacket while we’re on the subject - it’s the most beautiful, well made item of clothing but as soon as it arrived I was scared of getting something on it. Pale suede and children don’t mix.. not to mention I can’t eat a meal without spilling it down myself.. I think it will have to go back. I’m thinking of swapping it for this - link - what do we think? Also I'm not sure the gold zips/hardware detailing is quite me. If it would have taken me a year to 'earn' this I want to love it ;) - Back to the credit card.. I’m not condoning credit purchases if you can’t afford the item (I’ve been there.. it’s not fun in the end!) but for a monthly expense such as petrol if you can get cash back then clear the balance every month it’s a total bonus and any additional way to justify an extravaggant purchase is good, right?
Do you use any cash back sites/cards? Do you find yourself saving anything significant annually? I really only use cashback sites right now but I've saved around £150 just from holidays/hotel stays so it's definitely worth looking in to where you can get money back in purchases you're already going to make!
