It’s been a minute. Truthfully I’ve felt a little under water recently. Too many plates, not enough arms to spin them but I’m feeling like I have them steady for a second so it seemed like a good time to check in. What have been my recent wins…
COSY CRIME
I’m going to start with audiobooks because in terms of media, they have been my primary source lately. Whether I’m cleaning, getting ready, in the bath, making candles, I’m listening to audible and I have become completely obsessed with mysteries. If you know my at all, you may know I have previously only really enjoyed non-fiction. For the most part I like a good autobiography or something in the realm of self-help but the odd novel has slipped through the net and this past week alone I’ve listened to two I can recommend whole heartedly. The Only One Left by Riley Sager (about a woman who goes to care for an elderly socialite accused of killing her entire family) and The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell (2 teenagers that go missing and throughout 3 timelines you find out what’s happened to them when a mystery novelist moves to town and finds long lost clues) they’re both fantastic. I actually though they were by the same author because after reading The Only One Left I searched for Riley Sager in audible thinking I’ll give another a go and it must have thrown in a Lisa Jewell as a similar style. Neither was particularly scary or thrilling, in case that’s not your bag but both had me desperate to find out what happened. A great bit of escapism.
SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH
I can’t go without mentioning today’s very successful diffuser launch. We put our 2 scents in our new diffuser option on smoke and matches today and had no idea how popular it would be. We’ve had requests for diffusers since we started the company last summer and we’ve had them in testing for a while but we’ve had so much excitement and questions about when new scents are coming that it’s really been a big day! Home fragrance businesses are typically quieter in the Spring and Summer so we weren’t expecting much business in the first half of the year but our customers have really surprised us so far and we’re all the more pleased to have put so much in to our upcoming summer collection. We actually had a convertible to play with yesterday (that’s a story in and of itself) and we took photos in headscarves and retro sunglasses.. it’s been a fun few days for the business!
YOUTUBE-VERSARY
Somebody reminded me on instagram that it’s my youtube anniversary today! 14 years!! It’s hard to remember a time before I posted my every waking thought on the internet, it really is, haha. But really, for all of the negatives to that, there have been so many opportunities, so many friends met.. I wouldn’t change it and I cannot imagine ever giving up entirely. Maybe the direction will change, things evolve after all but I think you’re stuck with me for the long haul.
ENERGY
I’m throwing this in because, although I feel I have none of this recently, I have had enough to power though A LOT of stuff. I’ve been busier this past 2 weeks that I have in a long time. I felt pretty burned out last weekend, really at the end of my rope on Sunday afternoon but to reframe that, I have accomplished so much with not enough time and although I still feel like I’m recovering, I pushed through, it all got done, I’m finally catching up on my sleep and I’ve ticked off some things that were on my to do list for months. Tax season is NOT MY FAVE.
I’m sure there are more things to share but I feel like I’m struggling with just those - hence the lack of wins posts. I would like to sleep for a week now.
