PS. I Love You!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI’m going to go on record here and say this is the BEST lipstick I own for under £2. That might not sound like a bold statement but I’ve tried a multitude of super budget brands and these days that price point has stiffer competition than ever. I recently tried a ton of stuff from the new Poundland range (more on that later but you can watch my first impressions video here) which is great but THIS is better. My one bug bear with low priced brands is their shade range it’s usually a safe selection of colours they know will sell, a brown nude, a mid tone pink, a pillar box red, etc etc. Much as I don’t TRULY believe MAC lipsticks are worth the whopping £15.50 I pay for them it’s the colour choice that draws me back in. Quality wise formulas from Revlon and Maybelline are just as good but MAC simply can’t be beaten if you’re looking for a specific shade.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe texture of this one is not EXCELLENT, it’s GOOD but it could be better. It’s opaque but a little dry, not quite matte.. it’s like it’s not quite sure what it wants to be but lots of lipsticks that claim to be matte aren’t really. I assume this is because these days people want the finish but they want it to be comfortable to wear, non drying, etc etc. it’s tough to meet those needs (the only ones I know of that I feel DO hit that spot are Revlon Matte Balms) so bizarre as this one feels I can understand the hybrid texture. It IS long wearing and the packaging is sleek (and pretty much a copy of Max Factor, no?) AND it was super cheap so as it goes.. no real complaints here but what makes this a real winner is the colour!! It’s so unusual, a true taupey, greige nude that I’ve struggled o find ANYWHERE (EVEN from MAC!) so imagine my surprise when I got this home from good ol’ Primarni to find that it ticked that box perfectly. It’s not for everyone, I know but it’s just so cool and very ‘of the moment’, if you’re in to the cool toned Kylie Jenner lip trend you need this in your life! Well.. in your makeup bag anyway.

Hey, I was in Lidl earlier on and thought of you!! Haha they had some makeup in there from the ‘Cien’ range – there was some lipsticks, eye shadows, nail varnish and mascara and everything was £1.99 or 2 for £3. Just wondered if you had tried any of it or had seen it?! X

This really suits you but would probably be too light on my complexion.

Why is blog loving making me click out to a new window to view your posts now? I am lazy haha one extra click and I can’t take it 🙂

ahh, sorry! I discovered that I didn’t get any credit for people reading through the iphone app. That’s how I read blog posts too so I know it’s annoying but I lost half of my readers to it last year and not to be crude but.. that’s half my income too 😉
Aside from that I thought people had just stopped reading lol

This colour looks exactly like the Limecrime Velvetine that everyone is going crazy for at the moment. I believe it’s called Cashmere. Not the same finish (which is a good thing in my opinion; The Velvetines are sooooo drying!) but the colour is spot on. I happen to have this lippie. You do kind of have to work with it a little, but its worth it.

really? I’ve seen a cream from them that it similar.. not sure I’d want a velvet matte in this colour though :/

I don’t think this brand is available in the states but that shade is to die for! Hope I can find a shade like it from an international brand!

Also have a butchers at their premium make up brushes… RT-esque but half the price. Esp the foundation and massive powder brush!!!
I really should stop reading these blogs, lovin the searching/ shopping/ filling the bathroom cabinet too much x

I love their blushers / bronzer and my favorite mascara ATM is their one with fibers but was in a black bottle with orange or red writing but now it seems I can only get the fiber one in a thicker silver tube??

Their foundation is also not too bad and I think I had a green eye pencil that was just OK!

      • missbudgetbeauty
        14 February, 2015 / 3:04 pm

I will look out for that! fibre mascara from a budget brand is very interesting!

        • jomumma
          14 February, 2015 / 3:34 pm

It’s not a two step process, the fibres are in the product! I love it because my eyes are really sensitive lately, think it’s the fibromyalgia giving me yet another odd symptom but my old mascara suddenly started stinging my eyes and this one doesn’t at all!

Yes, hopefully you can find the original one in the black tube though, another great thing is that it’s very very buildable without the lashes feeling heavy or clumpy and it come off the lashes (if you use your fingers ) feeling like little rubbery tubes that had simply been encasing each lash! I love it, can you tell?

Haha I laughed at primarni because I call it that all the time!

Went to my local shop and just couldn’t find this colour and I want it sooooooooooooooooo bad! I found a few other peachy glittery colours that were nice and a darker brown colour but that was it!

    • missbudgetbeauty
      13 February, 2015 / 6:26 pm

everyone calls it that, right? 😉
annoying that there’s no shade name so you can’t even call around and see where might have it

        13 February, 2015 / 8:23 pm

Yes extremely annoying! Just like makeup academy! Lol

Got quite a few bits from mua today and I’m blaming you for my £30 spend, only wanted a couple of lippys and the four segment colour balancing powder that I saw you use and look what happens…… I thought that this only happened to me when I enter a large Tesco! Ha!

        • missbudgetbeauty
          14 February, 2015 / 3:03 pm

but at least they have numbers etc..are they selling MUA in tesco now??

            14 February, 2015 / 3:13 pm

No but I usually pop in Tesco for a few items and come out with a £50 spend!
