L'Oreal Self-Heating Hair Mask - Mask Monday

Since I stopped fucking around with bleaching my hair I have been very laid back with regards to its upkeep. I use a shampoo that promises me lightweight shine and if I'm going to condition it's usually a leave in spray - I'm rather fond of the Mane & Tail for those asking - so masks have been off my radar for a while. When I saw this; though, I had to try it. A self heating hair mask? How would that even work?

Before use you need to wash and towel dry your hair, then you apply a balm and cover it up with a greasy feeling shower cap. Weird, right? As soon as I took the cap out of the sachet it felt warm and (as directed) I massaged it once it was on my head to 'activate' the heat further. I assume it contains whatever they put in those thermal clay masks?I left it on my hair for longer than the packet told me too (obvs - probably more like an hour than 15 minutes) and rinsed.I was concerned that it would feel greasy but it didn't at all. The next day my hair felt ever so slightly coated but it still had shine and bounce and didn't feel like I was wearing product. I'm perhaps not the best case study since my hair is in pretty good nick these days (which is why a before/after would be pointless) but I haven't had a trim for 10 months and rarely treat the ends so it definitely appreciated the pick me up and I enjoyed the result and the treatment process. The one tip I would have is that the liquid that the cap is soaked in DRIPS. Wear a towel on your head or at least around your shoulders if you're planning on wearing it anywhere other than in the bath!

Have you tried this? What did you think?
