GEN SEE
Remember blog reviews?? Let’s try that again, shall we?
I received a parcel from Gen See a few weeks ago and took these shots one early morning around 6am when I was playing with some new makeup for video reviews. I was pleaseantly surprised by the colourful, soft touch packaging but my expectations were low once I saw the colours inside.
Obviously you don’t get to choose the selection you receive in PR so I’m used to looking past that to the products themselves BUT but historically when they shades are so bold, they tend to be overcompensating. A lot of lower quality brands (not always cheaper) swatch really well but they just don’t translate or (worse still) wear horribly.
Looking online the range has a nice variety but is definitely a capsule collection. It reminds me of early Glossier but with more colour. You can definitely pick up a more neutral palette but I’m really drawn to their clean skin, natural aesthetic with a bright twist.
The brow gel is POTENT, my son said, ‘what have you done to your face?’ and my husband hadn’t mentioned it for fear I’d settled on a new look. In a paler shade I would be very interested, it gives a lot of colour and hold.
Same with the liquid eyeshadow. I little goes a long way! I’m wearing Bronze Age but Desert Highway (a pretty yellow gold) or First Light (a pale pink champagne) may be a little more subtle. As with most liquid/cream eye products, it does crease but a small amount smudged over a good primer has decent staying power.
The LIPSTICK was a real winner. This lasted so well it was actually difficul to remove at the end of the day. I tried it a couple of times and if you’re in to a longwearing, comfortable matte, this is one to try FOR SURE! Plus, again.. the packaging is just so cute.
But my absolute favourite was (of course) the cream cheek. I’m wearing Plum but looking online, Apricot is calling out to me. Everything in this range is packed with colour so you really don’t need much of anything and if you’re in to a clean skin look, a cream blush is essential.
I’m wearing everything over top of skincare alone (something I’m trying more of as I get older) and I think in more subtle shades, I could make it work. Overall, a really impressive new brand that I’m excited to see more from in the future.
Price point is mid range with everything around £16-£19
