Winter Glow

I feel like I’ve written (or filmed) a billion versions of ‘winter glow’ but I really couldn’t think of a more apt title. Rather than regurgitated or repetative I’m going to say this is because it’s a consistent goal I’ve chased and I’m sure I’m not alone.

I reintroduced myself to pinterest this weekend and editorial beauty inspo pics are almost cartoon-like in their lit-from-within quality. They’re all gorgeous skin, light bases and almost heavenly in their highlights. I’m going to try and recreate one (watch this space) but for now I’m sharing my very favourite glow getters that you don’t need to be a pro to apply.

2023 was the year of the cream cheek for me but my most used towards the end has to be the N07 Lip & Cheek Tint in Dusk Pink. I can’t recommend it for lips but it’s super blendable on the face and the colour is perfect for that ‘cold girl’ trend.

N07 Hydraluminous was my foundation of choice all year long but when Sephora launched in the UK, their Best Skin Ever Glow was in my first order and it offered the same luminosity with more coverage for the winter months. It has light reflecting pigmnents that give it a radiant finish while blurring imperfections. Both of these bases feel like skincare and makeup combined. I feel fresh and hydrated all day long and the settling in dryness/fine lines is minimal. The difference between the two is really coverage preference.

Collection Filter Finish was the long awaited dupe for Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter. An illuminating primer containing Vitamin E and Glycerin, making it a great option for dry skin that needs a radiance boost. I wear it under my base, mixed with my foundation and as a liquid highlight. I can’t imagine the CT version being any better, let alone justifying the difference in price.

This wasn’t intended to be a No7 appreciation post but I can’t finish without an honourable mention to their Hydraluminous Setting Mist. I’ve been skipping powder altogether and living with some shine because this stuff melts my makeup together and really helps to disguise any dryness. Fixing mists tend to be alcohol heavy and can really dehydrate my skin, this again feels like a skincare hybrid and it contains my ingredient hero - niacinamide!

It’s funny how your prefences change, I would have hated a lot of this 10 years ago, all I wanted to be was matte.. haven’t we all been there? It’s taken me a minute to get on the dewy skin bandwagon after battling oil all of my life but I finally get it. Give me that glass skin!!
