WEEKLY WINS #2

FIRST WEEK BACK TO WORK

I shared snippets on this in this weeks vlogs but I was actually ready to get back to normal and get back on my list making sh*t. Karen and I have been working on our new collection and that should be ready for release soon, after months of deliberation and testing. That’s a huge win and a launch is always exciting. I planned out my video content a little differently for this month and played around with some new editing styles that gave me a point of ‘newness’ to something that has been feeling a little flat and samey recently. And then work work - obviously. Less exciting on that front but glad to get back in to the swing of things AND I have a beautiful new work bag which took the edge off returning to the office.

NEW ROUTINE

Because it was my first week back AND first week in the office, it was also the first week of what will be my regular routine from now on. I was glad to have been 2 weeks in to my ‘put yourself together’ resolution by the time I was back among the people. I’m a really social person but I’ve become quite quick to isolate since we’ve WFH so something that might still be really normal to you (and was to me for years) is going to take a minute to adjust to. It’s nice to work our busiest day as a team though and I did manage to get in more steps, with a little walk at lunchtime, getting out of the house.

RESTORED FAITH IN VIRTUAL HUMANITY

I posted about this already - read here - but it might not have been your scene so reiterate. I’m currently playing my first MMO (massively multiplayer online) game. Initially I wasn’t keen on the social elements - there are resources you cannot obtain without the help of others - but this week I embraced it and witnessed complete strangers who had popped in to random servers, never to see each other again, actively waiting for people to get to certain spots, telling others to wait in the chat.. just being so much kinder than we are used to seeing people behave online every day. It truly restored something for me. There are communities of good people out there who are nice for no reason other than to be nice. I woudn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it for myself.

SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH

Before Christmas, Milo and I had fallen in to a Monday pattern after school. It was the one day he didn’t tend to run upstairs and get online, he would sit with me and watch something while he had a snack. We started watching Sabrina The Teenage Witch (holds up - worth a rewatch) and we picked up where 2023 left off this week. I feel like I’m on borrowed time with him as a pre-teen, I’m sure one day he will wake up and have ‘turned’ so I’m trying to make time for the time he gives me and appreciate the moments.

ROLLERSKATES

This is going to be a post of its own because honestly, buying and trying these skates has been so affirming.. they might be magic. The long and the short is, if you want to do something, don’t let other people put you off. Life is too short to worry about what other people think of something that might bring you joy.
